As usual, there's always that obligatory "Japan is weird" comment. Apart from the main concept supposed to be about rice crops that turned into boys, it's not any less different from turning battleship into girls, e.t.c..In the end, they still looked like every other human in the anime world. If it was an actual anime about talking rice paddies/crop whatever...I don't think anyone will be seeing that.
