Id rather have 5 hariyuki's instead of 1 kirito. At least hariyuki is unique and is an example of a character with actual real issues. Kirito is just generic as hell and can do no wrong, except for when he does and just doesn't have to suffer for it.

Kirito isn't generic. He MADE his character trope generic. And Haruyuki isn't a bad MC, it's just that his character design in comparison with the rest of the cast is ehhhh.

The problem is that his character design was the biggest contributor ho his confidence issues. If you made him look like any old anime character, than it wouldn't be as important.

I can sort of see your point except the LN is still going pretty strong. I said sort of though because they seem to really be holding back on putting LN characters in this recent stuff (except Ardor Maiden).

I said in comparison with the rest of the cast. I have no problems with him being fat and it being the reason for his confidence issue, My problem starts with the fact that not only does he look like a chibi but that he's the only one that looks like one. It's like the authors (the original LN Illustrator at least) is making fun of us by saying "yeah, he's fat and it bothers him, let me make a point by making him the only fat one".
I don't think i even saw any backgrownd character looking like him <.<

it's an anime, there's no rule that if there's one fat character there should be 10 fat people in every scene, or that every character should follow the same design properties, Haru's look is a smart touch on the story telling, you don't know what levels of self depreciation some people have, it's impossible for us as human beings to fully understand the complex personalities of each other, but thanks to Haru's unique look in the anime we can understand him a little bit better, that's why people like you don't like the anime, because of real characters, human emotions, complexity, personality, you know... these kind of things that aren't usually in anime, that's why SAO is that much more popular compared to AW, it's its opposite, quality=unpopular, too hard to understand for people like yourself "ughh why does the character look different, my tiny brain can't understand ugggg", shit=popular, no question to be asked, easier to consume
