I ended up not listening to the song because I didn't want to spoil myself further, but damn, that was actually an awesome performance. Her tones didn't sound off at all, probably practiced a ton for this.

I'm not so sure about that. This was yet another Makoto Shinkai movie that plays out in the exact same way as all the last ones. Unless you mean visual quality in which case I completely agree.

Well clearly there was something very different about it otherwise it wouldn't have grossed so much money at the box office based on his past titles.

Without spoiling too much, it was more dramatic than his past ones. Also less realism in the premise. But the general plot and ending is the same as the last ones so if you watched those you can guess how this one is.

Except, the movie ended different than most of his other movies.
Also, Garden of Words looks better than Your Name in every way. Yes, Your name had bigger set pieces, but the animation doesn't look as good. I would say it's in between Garden Of Words and The Children Who Chase Lost Voices.

Oh I agree, I just meant all his movies have extremely high visual quality and I feel other studios should try to catch up with some other titles. But not an industry wide thing or anything.
