Preview looks good as expected from the quality. They have a decent cast list for this series too so I'm excited to see the adaptation.

Even Yasuharu Takanashi and Madhouse won't help that gay sport anime.

Well that's a bit rude towards Yasuharu Takanashi, wouldn't you say? It's too early to tell, anyway. The source material might put a lot more focus on the sport itself than the relationships. I'm not just going to disregard that exciting animation.
Sure, a specific fanbase might make more of the anime than it actually it is, but at this stage, you can't tell if the show itself will enncourage it.
Remember, such girls - as it were - can make something out of nothing, but there are ways to avoid them.
I'm all for positive thinking in life!

Yeah this looks like it's going to be a mediocre production. As expected from Madhouse.

3DCG balls are actually the best idea, since usually balls are branded or have a particular design and it's actually a drag to draw something that must always be in the correct angle, a well-blended model will do the trick just fine. The same guy did 3DCG for Chihayafuru which is honestly a better idea for constantly moving panels with letters.
As for the still shots, a little misleading in my opinion, since they all show moments after a big movement took place, like catching the ball, the scrawn (that's what's called right?) or kicking the ball. I'm not worried, I like the colour and the overall feel of it, and how could I be worried if Yoshihiro Kanno is on board as animation director and most likely key animator, he's awesome.

I like it! The designs were polished up and made all nice. The blond boy is of course very cute. I'm excited to see it!

The only thing that would make this anime better was if it was actually gay.

Speed lines comprising 60% of the "animation". As expected of Madhouse.
