Well that outfit certainly makes him seem like he'd be a reclusive nut so I'd have to say I'm actually pretty happy with how silly this looks

This photos just show that how much they tilted the original material. Original L is a mysterious character with literally no background who speaks with higher ups through computer using voice changing devise so no one can identify him. And this L apparently gives public speeches in front of the media!

At least he is trying to be anonymous character with that clothes, hood and closed by the mask face. Seriously, I don't think that I can distinguish him from thousands of black guys with all this stuff even if I see him in close-up.
But for all seriousness, that's a funny choice - he looks like the gang member there, not the infamous detective.

I hate to say it, but having L give speeches to the public/media in person completely removes a huge amount of the mystery and secretiveness surrounding his character. Making L simply cover up his face is just silly and ridiculous.

I'm stuck in an eternal cycle with this movie, where every time I see something about it I do a double-take and then remember it exists again.
Seems like a cool live-action re-imagining of L, though. I'm hopeful this will be good since the basic story is one that seems like it could easily work in live action, unlike so many anime adaptations which feel doomed right off the bat.

The Vancouver Art Gallery exterior has been in so many movies and TV shows. It's been used several times as the courthouse in Arrow.
Vancouver is basically Seattle's stunt double.

Plot twist: this guy is actually not L but the dude that Light publicly murders.

And now I'm thinking about the crazy twist with the reveal that it isn't L at all, but the actor that maded to be L for public... by the real L. You know, like Iron Man 3. That will be sick.
Yeah, it's will be out of manga, but it seems we see only L and not Nia/Mello at all, so why bother?

No more silly and ridiculous than speaking to a bunch of law enforcement representatives through a computer screen with the letter L emblazoned on it and with a digitized voice.
