I felt that SDS really flew under the radar of most people. Maybe it was the Netflix license, or maybe it was the cartoony Dragon Ball / Dragon Quest-like character designs.

But I had a lot of fun with it. It had some nice overpowered fight scenes reminiscent of One Punch Man. Not as amazing animation of course, but it made up for that with good character interactions and some actual emotional story beats (something OPM sorely lacked). Also, I'm a sucker for a fantasy setting. Only real complaint was how rushed the 1st series was.

4-episode special? I think this is what we could call, at least in the USA, a "mini-series". How about actually making at least a 12-episode 2nd season?

It's apparently brand new material written by the original author. It's essentially an OAV, except it's airing on TV, and therefore not technically an OAV.

The manga is hugely successful in Japan (although I don't know how well DVD sales went), so I wouldn't be surprised if a full second season was on its way. This seems to be author-approved filler to placate us in the meantime. Smile
