I usually don't care about rankings all that much, still it gives me an indescribable sense of satisfaction to finally see Rakugo up there where it belongs!
Thank you for taking care of this problem.

Yes, thanks very much, Dan! The numbers nerd in me (it's small but very loud) loves these rankings, and I was fast resigning myself to a future where they weren't reflective of our readership at all because of a few bad apples. So glad it's fixed now!
It's interesting that we noticed the problem because of Rakugo (because its place at the very bottom of the list was just...basically impossible), but this fixed list seems to show that other shows were also affected in minor ways. The other two that stuck out to me most in this repaired ranking were Gundam IBO and Mr. Osomatsu.
So yeah, whoever manipulated the scores just really doesn't like anything perceived as having a predominantly female fandom, even Gundam. Fun fun fun.

So by the looks of it, both Rakugo and DRRR have gotten a bump from the rankings. Also, if we compare this with last weeks, seems the spam also hit a bunch of other shows too, notably Gundam, although funnily enough not as much with Haikyuu, which is odd to me. Thanks for the fix.

The statistics and numbers nerd in me is feeling relief. Not just at Rakugo's quality being reflected, but I notice other shows were adjusted as well. I feel like this represents a more accurate view of how everyone is feeling generally about the season.
Now I'll go back to be amused at the trash I like. HaruChika is not the greatest show in any way, but I enjoyed it a bunch. A little part of me is hoping for more of that.
The rankings also make me wish I understood Gintama more. I feel like I'm missing out, haha.

Just to be clear, when developing the fix I didn't target voters based on how they rated Rakugo. That would be pure bias. The spamming pattern was somewhere else entirely. The fact that Rakugo was propelled to the top of the rankings is simply proof that it was the target of the spam.
But to me, at least as important is the fact that the cumulative ranking is stabilizing like it was supposed to. Last week Durarara moved 17 spots in the cumulative ranking, at a time when it should be close to set in stone. The spamming introduced an element of randomness, like collateral damage around Rakugo. Having that fixed is another proof that the discarded votes were really spam.

It's great that the spam is ignored for the ranking, but it's apparently still being counted on the community scores for each review Don't know how feasible it'd be to remove the spam from there too.

At the risk of going off-topic, what's there to understand about Gintama? It isn't rocket science or something.
And btw, i enjoyed HaruChika quite a bit myself, so you are not alone with your "bad taste".

I also want to echo the general sentiment of relief at Rakugo's high placement.
-------------------
Wingbeats. The problem with getting into Gintama is 3-fold. The first 2 eps are garbage, ep3 is the actual introduction to our main trio and the plot such as it is. The jokes don't really hit their stride until late 20s early 30s when the cast has had time to establish themselves+bounce off eachother. And the serious drama parts, for those who care, creep in at the 40s-50's.
It's certainly a great series that I'm happy to be a fan of, but it's a real detriment to newcomers that it takes so long to find its way.
-----------------
If ranking spam was such a concern that it was applied retroactively to the whole season, any plans to verify the statistics of seasons past?

Seems pretty legit. It's interesting to see how everything ranks now.
Gintama seems to have been the most consistent show in popularity this season. And it's surprising to see that Erased had a bit more fluctuation than expected earlier in the season.
Proud of Grimgar for managing to clench #2 for episode 8. That was arguably its best episode, and it's cool to see that the polls reflect that.
Also happy to see Rakugo reflecting all the praise it continues to receive. Still need to get on the ship. Will do so eventually.
Also it's cool that Durarara is doing so well. I just started watching it last week, and was amused to find out that the show is finishing up. Got on the train at the right time! It's reassuring to see the stats tell me that the show hasn't gone horribly wrong in its final season.
Thanks for all the hard work. I'm sure that ironing the kinks in all these statistics was tedious at best.

That....would explain it. A year ago or so I made a go at watching Gintama, and I think I got to around episode 10 before I got bored, gave up, and turned to other things in my backlog.
I ought to give it another shot. I don't always like shows that are at the top of lists, but when something gets constantly-glowing reviews, I figure it's at least worth giving a good watch to see.

A lot of fans seem to share this sentiment, so I guess loving the show from the very beginning makes me the odd man out. The humor has definitely gotten sharper over time, but there's still plenty to like in the earlier installments. I've found that a lot of people who drop the show early on are bothered by the lack of attention paid to the overarching plot - and if you go into Gintama expecting a plot-driven series, you're going to be disappointed.

Well, usually i would vehemently disagree about Gintama only really getting good after 30 eps., but if that's what it takes for you to give this fabulous show another shot, i'll keep quiet.
EDIT:

There's a lot of good stuff but there are a few duds mixed in. I don't think I was really sold on the series until the Nabe Shogun episode (25 I think?) which was absolute gold, and it mostly just gets better from there.
