So when does Funimation announce you can create your own brand new season of Escaflowne if you donate a million dollars to the Kickstarter campaign?

This is good news for me, I was holding off on pledging because I was worried the "Collectors Edition" would be some shitty packaging like they tried with the Darker Than Black BD or the Soul Eater "yearbook edition"

So they confirmed they are including the original dub outside of the Kickstarter CE but in order to placate those who... no, I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the majority of the money and backers are tied to pledges involving the original dub and that this latest notice- the number of exclamation points in no way makes me wonder if this is not a paid ad from Funimation- news article makes it clear that they are now releasing the original dub retail, the "We never intended otherwise so there" original sub only bare release disappearing further and further in the past....
If they backpedal any further, where will they end up? Or will they finally get around to saying "People wanted more than Cowboy Bebop. Did not see that one coming."
How about fewer stunts like dub simulcasts for shows that may not finish well if at all? I have a fiver if you do a Kickstarter for not doing projects.

I would have gone with Monica Rial, but maybe that would have been too obvious. Still, a better choice than the ones for Van or Hitomi.

^ I was thinking Tia Ballard, because she's already played a couple of cat people already. But yeah, best casting decision so far.
Man, I really want this dub to be good.

I think Kickstarter is a great way of not only getting the money needed to start a project, but also to quantify the interest of the audience. I wonder if something like this could be done with the Persona 3 movies, but since I think Aniplex owns them it's unlikely.

Funimation has just reached +240.000 so the next cast member should be announced soon and so far I think that all of Funimation's casting decisions for the new Escaflowne dub are fine.

Alexis Tipton does have at least one catgirl character under her belt too. she voices Millianna in Fairy Tail. and going by her voicework for that character I'm betting she can voice Merle pretty well.

^ Oh yeah, I forgot about Millianna. I'm sure she'll do fine. And so should the dub if everyone else is well cast.

That section was copied directly from the Kickstarter update...

So... Ocean Group dubs from the 90's are getting redubbed sometimes by Funimation. What about those god awful Singapore dubs that Geneon used from time to time?

Really looking forward to this new dub. I wonder who will voice the beast people of Van's world this time around (they're a high point with me because they always remind me of Lynx from Chrono Cross, but that's a given since Nobuteru Yūki designed characters for both; he's really good at making some distinct beastmen).

Sonny Strait is Allen
Colleen Clinkenbeard Is Millerna
Glad the director is one of the main characters.../sarcasm. But really, I cannot see him as Allen.

No offense or anything, but why did you quote my post to point this out?

I like her FT role. I think Alexis is 1 of the best Funi VA for playing the cutesy or spunky girl roles. She also has her comedic side as the foul-mouthed Rik in "Haganai".
