I'm wondering, are these number good enough for what they expected? Y'a know, I want even more cross countries release! Even if it's only subtitled, that's okay.

And not visually impressive enough for big screens

$2248/3 = $749.33 per screen per day
$749.33/ 3 = $249.77 per individual screening
$249.77/$10 = 24.977 people at every screening
That's probably the best numbers any company could hope for considering that it's a niche title advertised solely over social media.

My brother who isn't even into anime was at the theater on Saturday and just randomly decided to check this out. He really liked it, and said the showing was very full and he had to sit in the front section.

The numbers are ok. Generally a Hollywood movie wants an average of ~$5k to be considered good, but you're going to lessen that a tad for being a foreign film, and again for an animated release. At least around here it also only had two showings a day which really limits its numbers.

Well, Mamoru Hosuda is surprisingly known outside of Japan, even if it's only from people who watches anime. I have a couple of friends who don't really watches anime, and they are hyped about the canadian release.

I would have gone to see The Boy and The Beast if the nearest theater to me where it was showing wasn't over 70 miles away.

It's just OK for 122 screens.
That's similar to Princess Mononoke numbers when it expanded to about 130 screens.
