I'm feeling kinda "meh" towards it. Flame of Recca was my first shonen manga series I read from start to finish, and it holds a precious place in my heart. But the anime was just a sloppy mess, taking away several points that made the original manga cool. Still, no harm's done by streaming it. Heck, it may bring new interest to the brand... though, considering the quality, that may be a stretch.

Now, if they'll would give the Hokage clan a second try in animation, like they did with Ushio & Tora... now that would be pretty darn awesome.

I personally feel that Flame of Recca should get the Ushio and Tora treatment and be remade into a condensed, well-paced with better animation and a satisfying ending, more in line with the original manga. The original anime was good but could have been executed much better. Studio Pierrot was hoping that this would be the next Yu Yu Hakusho but it fell flat. Being that both of FoR and U&T come from Weekly Shonen Sunday, I'm hoping that this happens.

I'm totally unfamiliar with the series, but during a time where I went into the very early Answerman archives Flame of Recca's name seemed to pop up every 2-3 columns with requests to stop asking about it. Sounds like a big title that hasn't really held onto its fans like, say, Fullmetal Alchemist.

Someone at Crunchyroll was reading my mind. I always thought the series was really interesting with all the unique weapons though I will admit the manga is better. The anime sort of stops short, and is begging for either a reboot or a continuation. I'd be up for either.

NANKA SHIAWASE CHOTTO SHIAWASE...

I think the OP is the only thing I remember about this. But I might check it out and see if I can jog my memory.

I suppose majority had the same sentiments. I sure hope a reboot is still possible by now.

I rather liked the ED as well. Hikaru Nishida is one of my favorite J-Pop idols.

Wooh Love is Changing Everytime
Ai shite ru kimochi ga
Wooh Love is Moving Everywhere
Ikite iru watashitachi ga

That really takes me back. I still can't remember much about the actual show, though.

I DETEST this anime. One of the worst adaptations out of all manga adaptations. They tried as much as possible to make it as girmdark as they could. They removed basically every single humorous moment from the manga, made Recca much angrier then he was supposed to be and sucked out all the fun the manga had. Not ONE joke survived this anime, not ONE. Add to that the stupid gecko ending and the complete joke they thought of to get rid of the bad guys and you have one of the most terrible adaptations. A guide to how not to adapt manga.

Aren't we a tad bit exaggerating? There's no rule stating that the adaptation has to be exactly the same as the source material. And the changes are they made are not earth shaking so the drama is not really warranted.

It's not like they Michael Bayed it anything.

They did something worse - they M. Night Shyamalaned it, "The Last Airbender" style.

Maybe not, but it should at least keep the same genres.

In Parasyte anime also remove all the comedy manga. You think to Parasyte maladaptive for doing that?

They did no such thing. They removed SOME of the comedy. Big difference. Also, a seinen can survive with less, or even some times no comedy, but a shounen, especially a tournament story, not a chance.
