As a loyal IG fan, this is one of the few series from them I have not yet checked out. How good is it though? Depends on show's merit, I might own it

It is a *very* acquired taste. You will either love it to death or completely hate it. It has a very specific type of humor that goes over a lot of peoples' heads.
I personally enjoy it, but YMMV.

I like it, but the humor is definitely hit or miss (even by humor standards). If you're unsure, you might want to wait and see if a streaming option opens up.

I like Cromatie only in dub. One of the best dub tracks by far!

I've been reading the manga lately, and just going by that, it's pretty good in that each chapter makes me laugh. It's generally a parody of the Japanese delinquent/Yankee subgenre that...used to be a thing, for some reason (oh, that hair)...So some of the humor swings on how funny you find that. (A favorite chapter of mine is sipmly the main characters talking about the weather, instead of girls, porn, or fistfights )
The rest would simply be, "How random can we make it while still making it completely normal for this screwed-up school?"
That said, I'd say it's one of my favorites recently, and I'm looking forward to the release!

Well, first Azu-Dai, and now this, good...good! Watched it when G4 had it on its A.U. block and liked the randomness over and over, lol. Good thing its getting the re-release treatment...and Freddie! X3

Pity the dub's got Illich Guardiola in it, but man, I loved this series when I managed to get my hands on it a while ago.

Damn, that is a stone cold shame, his performance was hilarious. Ah well, no point it letting it ruin the dub for me.

It probably makes sense that Discotek got it. I don't think it was a best seller for ADV back in the day, so it seems rational for Sentai to drop that and pick up Azumanga Daioh. For how wacky and insane those two titles are, I think them being held by a single company would tear the fabric of reality inside out into shape of Kamiyama with Chiyo's pigtails.

Chris Ayres stated that the court dropped the case since it was due to the police being a bunch of butt holes and over exaggerating evidence in the reports. She was of legal age and about to graduate, the cops were trying to crap out a case due to their bigotry. Of course, the incident still scared studios from hiring him in the future. So yeah, shame :/

Great job on Discotek's part. Man I was wondering if this would see the light of day. It's a good day for anime. Especially some of the older titles getting rescued. Now folks can pick them up.

Hey, now all the people that mentioned this show in the Azumanga Daioh thread will be happy!
I've only heard of this show, and do wonder if it's humour is for me. The likelyhood of me getting access to a legal stream are slim-to-none. Thinking back on anime that have been rescued recently, I can't think of one that was brought over to Australia...
