Hi folks..
Found an add for this anime, Sound of the Sky, ($19.99)
The ANN review was interesting and it rates high.
Just wondering if any of you other anime fanatics have seen this, I am interested and may buy it if comments are favorable Smile
Presented in Japanese with subtitles. (not an issue as I have crap hearing and use subtitles in everything I watch) Wink

Cheers all..

There was a thread on this, listed in the ANN Series Discussion Index sticky thread under the Japanese name So-Ra-No-Wo-To.
It's very much a slice-of-life with cute girls, in a post-apocalyptic military setting. I liked it when I watched it on Crunchyroll, the last few episodes were rather moving.

Ah, that's why I couldn't find it with a quick Ctrl+F, hah. Anyway, that thread is full of spoilers but might be a good resource for you if you're interested in reactions.

It's a very pretty show (backgrounds and music) with some really great scenes, a fantastic episode (#7), some questionable directorial decisions and a pretty cheesy ending.

Personally, my favorite thing about the series was the setting. The show has a really alluring atmosphere to it, grim as the situation in the story really is. If there's one thing the story does well, it's presenting its setting and backstory--it never fills in all the blanks, leaving plenty to your imagination.

If the review(s) piqued your interest, $20 is a steal.

Well, TRSI has it on sale for $29.99 right now. Just be sure you're not buying bootleg.

I found it on Ebay from Malaysia Item number: 290574818752

I have bough some really difficult to find anime from Malaysia, ie K-On full series, K-On live concert, Ghibli Museum documentary (I am going to see that place in person one day!), 72 episodes of Card Captor Sakura with movies!... etc.

Not sure if its all "legal" but is mostly japanese with subs for English, China and Malaysia etc

Cheers

That looks like a bootleg. I wouldn't buy it. In my opinion, buying a bootleg is a worse sin than downloading the show.

The real English subtitled release should look like this: http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/xd2KjuvyZB12sFj=mf/browse/item/91631/4/0/0

I checked out the tread and its been quite informative.. 18 pages of comments fills in the gaps!!

Looks like I might buy it, will never get to see it unless I do.. the way it is here I'm afraid.. not much anime on TV sadly. And due to regions cant watch crunchy roll and other streaming sites. Get most anime from DVD hire or internet purchases.

Well I found a streaming site and watched this all the way through.

Quality of the picture was not so great, but I did like it so I will buy it to see it in clean video.

I rate it very good even if it does have some issues with character design. Tsubasa chronicles, xxxholic series etc recycles characters everywhere so its not new. In this case they at least give them different personalities.

I enjoyed it for what it is, i find probably a 8/10 score is fair, that's good compared to some stuff I've seen lately.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

Cheers

Malaysia I'm almost positive has the most bootlegs produced out of any country in the world at this point so be very careful. I know for sure there is a huge market there for movies and TV shows. I'm not so sure about anime but just be careful when you order anything from there ALWAYS!

The I go through life is just assuming that any media product not from a 1st world country (US, Japan, UK, etc) is a bootleg. It works pretty well for me.
