Well, at least the BD version's problem isn't such a big deal, I doubt they send the discs internationally, so I will abstain myself from sending it over to get a replacement that might not come...
As for the DVD version, the problem looks quite severe. I wonder if the current boxes in stock will be called back to get them replaced with the correct discs though, as I wanted to buy the DVD box at some point, guess I'll have to dig around for the information...

What a way to ring the series 20th anniversary next weekend! Streaming anime is a way around this since you might not have said issues.

Watching is only a small part of being a fan of a series. Besides, streams are just plain horrible, eyecancer everywhere, they're either bitstream starved or bloated, badly encoded, prone to blocking, and a long etc. Maybe one day companies will stream lossless AV, but even then I will still want to own a well done whateverformatcomes-box than to be dependant on a streaming website/service that will die at some point. Also, the extras are mostly never streamed, so I wouldn't have known how Gendo's VA audition was like, for example!

blue ray>streaming.
blu rays have supperior technical aspects, unless you are that inclined to be stuck behind a monitor, granted you can have a 1080p resolution monitor, but why risk a bad connection, commercials or interuptions.
nge is worth owning PHYSICALLY, especially on blue ray. nge deserves to be on blue-ray.
