The movie is pretty decent at least. While of the two I liked Battle of Gods for better Storyline, I liked this for the fights.
Because in Resurrection 'F' the events happened too fast, some moments, especially the almost ending were too much "quick and abrupt"). and then ruined the moments. I watched the movie at week 1 in Chile so, I knew a little. |

I'll still watch this anyway when it rolls around theaters here. Unless it's already happening...?

Yeah, more of less what I felt. I was expecting the return of a stronger, more powerful Freeza to be much more impactful than it ended up being. Instead he felt more like a throw-away villain, not unlike Abo and Cado from that half-hour special a few years back. The movie doesn't really earn any of the drama it tries to inject into the story.
It was still fun to watch, had some good-looking moments (outside of the obvious, ugly CG-- seriously, that's gotta go) but ultimately it was kind of forgettable. |

I really, REALLY enjoyed this film even though it suffers from a complete lack of tension somewhere around half-way through the film to the end.
The characters are their best selves(thanks to being written by the original creator) and theres some amazing fight choreography. For fans of the series that have wanted a high quality fisticuffs rematch between Goku and Freeza, as well as Vegeta finally being able to spoiler[absolutely trounce his former master] the film is great. |

This summed up my feelings quite nicely:
To my surprise, I was fighting to stay awake near the end. With DBSuper's early episodes being a retelling of the BoG movie, I guess we're in for a remake of this afterward. If so, I hope they: - give the secondary cast better-matched opponents and let them be useful next time. - do not make the point of the whole adventure to spoiler[teach the Saiyans a Very Important Lesson]. - manage to work in an explanation of when and how spoiler[Jaco] became part of the cast. Minor continuity bug; at the end of DBKai, we get a glimpse of where Freeza is in the afterlife ("HFIL," to those of you who remember the first TV broadcast). He's in a quite different environment in Resurrection F, though (one that's actually a whole lot funnier). |

Haven't seen it, but not really surprised about the lack of genuine stakes. Battle of Gods, if you think about it, could be classified as a lovecraftian story. It was about a deity FAR stronger and more ancient then our heroes could ever hope to be, and most of the movie was spent on trying to appease him or else he'll destroy the Earth. Resurrection F gives us a mortal villain, one that has been defeated before. So it's understandable that one wouldn't buy into the stakes.
spoiler[HOWEVER. I feel like the strength of the movie lies not within it's stakes, but in it's characters. I feel like the payoff really might be seeing Vegeta get payback for all that Freeza put him through. Because from what I saw from the spoilers they're swapping the roles Goku and Vegeta had on Namek. So the beatdown Vegeta gives Freeza might be the moment they're building up to.] |

I feel a little sorry for these Toei writers. Really everything has been done with this "Z" concept and it must be so hard to write for.
If I was in charge I would have changed focus to the next generation; Gohan, Goten, Trunks, etc. I feel they still have stories to tell and have gotten overshadowed by Vegeta and especially Goku. But the fans would probably hate that. |

I refuse to watch this movie because I'm unable to buy into the premise. I simply can't wrap my head around the idea of Frieza being a threat. There's simply too vast a gulf between his old strength and the insane levels that Piccolo, Vegeta, Gotenks, Gohan and Goku have ascended to.
Oh, and the new god forms with their crazy hair colours are already starting to wear very thin. What's next: lime green? Hot pink? Neon purple? In turn consider Super Saiyan 4; now there was a powerful-looking transformation that actually had gravitas. |

Ironically, isn't that what the reviewer is claiming to be the primary problem? |

I don't think it is ironic, I think it is perfectly logical. The reviewer simply identified the movie's glaring flaw. Stupid and difficult-to-accept premise is a problem whether you sit through the movie or are turned off from watching it in the first place because of said premise. |

The thing is there is a perfectly viable way to have Frieza be just as p0owerful as them. They could have simply said they wish for Frieza back AND for him to be as powerful as the Saiyans. One nice big long wish. I would've bought into that. |

That's two wishes, not one. Everyone knows that when making a wish you can't wish for more than one thing with the same wish, and you can't ask for more wishes. It's basic Wishology 101. And as we have been told many times in the series, the dragon can only grant wishes that are within the power of its creator. Resurrection from the dead is one thing, but granting a weakling an enormous amount of strength is quite another. The extent of the dragon's ability is nebulous and seemingly arbitrary - i.e. has never really been defined - but I am extremely doubtful that it could make Frieza more powerful than a Super Saiyan God. |

Will this review be eligible for the list on Rotten Tomatoes? So far, it stands at 100%. I wouldn't want to be the one who breaks a perfect streak though.

The next movie should be the ultimate conflict: Goku & Vegeta have to enter work force. That is the DBZ movie I want to watch.
The drivers license ep while filler was still one of the best eps of the series. |

While I was thinking of watching this on the weekend...
I already sat through that during Age of Ultron, not sure I really want to be in a cinema (again) for a similar experience... |
