Not sure how to feel about the fact that the story is just "happening" but I can't say I'm dissapointed with the result so far, at all, I hope it keeps "happening".
I do want him to start thinking of the future though, you know, foreshadow some interesting things or whatever, like how in GGO Kirito just remembers this guilt he had from killing people, that just "happened" too.
Story has been rather straightforward so far, but it's by all means still only 3% complete, so...

Hm, I find it interesting that there are Elfs in progressive. As someone who wasn't a big fan of the first SAO story, would you say progressive is so far more coherent and interesting to the point you'd recommend it over the original story?

I'm not sure about Theron, but I would recommend Progressive over the original SAO novels. While I do enjoy aspects of the faster-moving original series, by the point of Progressive, Kawahara's writing has improved so that he can work more into the text than a straightforward storyline, and taking Aincrad floor by floor makes the whole thing feel somewhat more organic in terms of story flow. (He still doesn't do a good job writing women, sadly...)

Although, haven't you ever wondered what went on through the floors 1-75 before? Not just what events transpired but also what content lays within each floor. We got descriptions of what the floor where the city of Salemburg is like and I loved what it looked like in the anime. There's also floor 28 where Kirito and Asuna lived in that cabin home where it was mainly a forestry. I'm just very curious what each floor looks like, it's very exciting.
