This again? No Justin Beiber this time?
Was this list written in any other notebook, nobody would give it a second thought, so I dont see how these names being in a Death Note makes this any more serious. Unless there was some other evidence that this kid was actually planning to kill these people, this is a joke.

This will never end, will it?
Real or fake, this is sad to see.

If the students were as smart as Light Yagami, nobody would figure out that they have a Death Note.

Maybe don't let your 7th grader read Death Note if he brought a BB gun to school in 5th grade?

I know most police don't watch Cartoon Network, and I respect them for that--I was actually on the side of the police who mistook a couple of teens putting some Aqua Teen light-up device on a bridge for a bomb--but could we have actual outreach program where we show the Death Note anime to police and school principals so they've at least HEARD OF IT???

American police are idiots. The kid was obviously someone the real Kira used to keep suspicion off himself by planting it on him. This is textbook bait and switch. The SPK has proven themselves worthless.

This is ridiculous. These kids are getting in trouble just because they wrote names in a notebook. I'm positive that there is not a single person in America that has never felt anger towards another person. People, kids especially, say they want to kill each other all the time, but they never do it, and therefor it is not a problem. I see these Death Note notebooks as just a way for them to vent their anger in a non-harmful way. lt's not like they're actually going to go out and kill the people in their notebooks.

Death notes or lists have been around for years, or even perhaps for centuries. Arya of Game of Thrones has her own Death Note in her mind.
The Death Note anime only popularized the concept. I am sure many a school binder had their own revenge lists, long before the Death Note anime.

And you are really ready to guarantee that 100% to the families of the potential victims?

I can't see a kid doing this unless they were bullied, he probably wrote down the names of people who harass and bully him.

You're right. We can't guarantee all the families that their children won't be attacked. But, like others said, there wouldn't be any problem if the notebooks didn't say Death Note on them. Every child is a potential victim even if the list they're on doesn't say Death Note on it. You can't guarantee every child's safety every time they walk out the door.

You would think the better solution would be to find out why he wrote those names in the book. It's basically a "These are the people I hate because they did something to me." situation.

We should encase each child in bubble wrap and make them stay at home, locked in their rooms. That's the only way to protect children from angry kids.
