Quite surprised Discotek didn't snag this one.

I was to but I guess sentai was able to get the rights first or already pretty much locked down license. Either way a anime classic finally getting rescued.

Once Discotek got Bloodlust, I knew someone would rescue the first film. Glad I was right.

No bluray in existence, even in Japan. As this is from -85(before early (SD-)digital era) one should be doable though, provided of course the film master is still in existence, and in good enough shape...

I can't seem to find any evidence of a Japanese Blu-ray for it. Could be a remastered DVD like Madman did.

Discotek got the better film. I own the original release and feel zero desire to double dip.

Same, I was completely expecting it when they were doing their recent announcements. As good as time as ever to upgrade from my VHS copy I suppose.

I still have my Urban Vision DVDs for both movies, unless there are some good goodies I don't know if I'll be double/quadruple dipping for this. I owned VHD on dubbed VHS, then subbed VHS, then the Urban Vision DVD, so yeah quadruple dipping.

I remember watching Bloodlust on VHS and it was a pretty good film, but it was the dub. I haven't really been on the lookout for it afterwards but this should provide a good opportunity to get and watch the Japanese version.

Congrats to Sentai for getting something that would make sense for Discotek to get considering Discotek got the other film.

Y'know, the weird thing about Bloodlust was that the English audio was the original. As such, the US DVD release was English-only, as was the initial JP release. It didn't actually have a Japanese audio track produced until the remastered DVD Japan got a few years ago.

Remember watching this on TNT (or was it TBS? before Sci-Fi started airing anime) at 2am on a school day (after a samurai film at midnight and before Robot Carnival at 4am - yeah stayed up all night then still went to school that day). Laughing

I thought that Discotek had this film. Wasn't there an announcement somewhere or was it for the new film?

Glad the movies got rescued. But I'm happy with my original dvds.
