Hahahahaha what the hell? 500 for the equivalent to 15 episodes of 25 minutes? That's like 30 dollars per episode, more than 1 dollar per minute.

I feel so bad for north americans and fans of the show now~~

To my knowledge, it's a Japanese import. Aniplex will release a cheaper, but still very proportionally expensive American release later.

a dub for Fate is inevitable no way I'm spending almost 500 for 13 episodes by importing.

Well, that's the real price of anime, not what you actually pay in your country.

F/SN UBW is 39000 JPY
If they sold that like a "normal" anime, they'd put 2 episodes per BD, making for a total of 7 volumes (3 episodes in the 1st BD).

Now, if we divide those 39k JPY into 7 volumes, each volume would cost 5500 JPY. That's pretty cheap considering all the extra stuff like animation data and the novel by Nasu, and also take into account that a BD volume of any other shows starts at 7k JPY.

For example, Shirobako vol4 right now is at 8000 JPY and vol12 at 12700 JPY, Imas Cinderella vol1 is at 7300 JPY, and so on. And now read this: if you buy every Shirobako volume (8 total) you'd be spending 78980 JPY (almost 700 USD).

And right now, you can buy F/SN UBW in amazon at 30k JPY (250 USD). So, do the math, it's cheaper and it comes with english subtitles.

And that's the reason anime is dying in America, japanese companies don't see profit from this market. The bubble will explode sooner than later, and those prices will become very real.

And any working adult can pay 250 bucks for the whole set, like I did. If we can agree on something, is that the Aniplex USA import set is a rip-off.

Anime isn't dying in america we have more anime than we've ever had before. It may not be popular but its not dying. Just because the japanese companies don't get that much money means nothing. The main people who get majority of the money are the people releasing it like Funimation.
Trust me if aniplex prices become the norm then more people will resort to pirating and then anime truly will die out.

Also not all adults working can afford that.

BTW, it looks like the Log Horizon manga was delayed (at least?) a week - it wasn't on the shelf with the rest of the Yen Press titles at my local retailer, at least, and Amazon's showing a release date of 3/31.

I'll be getting Sankarea 11 & Soul Eater 25. Quite exciting to have two final volumes in one week. Feels like I haven't finished a series in ages

& also Triage X 9.

So Soul Eater 25 has finally arrived in the Western world. It's been a fun ride and I'm feeling a little hesitant to pick it up as i don't want it to end Laughing - I was going to pick up the Log Horizon anime but I think im going to pick up the manga instead.

If you think it won't sell, then you are severely underestimating Aniplex's business model. Somehow, they've found a way to make this work. Especially with a popular franchise like Fate, this set is guaranteed to sell great for them, as pretty much all of their other high-priced import releases have.

500 bucks for 13 episodes... I know it's an import, but damn can japanese prices get ridiculous. I mean, I can actually afford it, but I would never spend 500 for just ONE 13-episode show, I can get multiple full series for that amount.

I'll wait for the UK to release Fate/stay night, then I'll pick it up.
