One trashy, exploitative, hyper violent show that has fun with itself is replaced with another trashy, exploitative, hyper violent show that pretends to be complex.
I'd rather have Deadman Wonderland.

Cowboy Bebop in HD would have been better than either of them. AoT is garbage and rerunning it won't really bring in the ratings. They are better off with something like Legend of the Legendary Heroes or some other 2-cour Funimation action anime.

If you seriously think Titan is as trashy and shallow as Deadman Wonderland I really don't know what to say to you other than 'no'. I know it's fun to play the contrarian but why not form your own opinions on stuff instead of lumping every show with blood and gore into the same pool?
I mean sure a large majority of the fanbase probably enjoys it for the violence (The western anime community has hyped up countless badly written gore fests in the past after all) but that is far from all the show has going for it. Even the violence is more stylish and creative in its execution than something like Future Diary.

Uh, most of the anime I enjoy is violent, plenty violent, if not ludicrously so. My problem with AoT is the airs it puts on by pretending to have this thin veneer of respectability in storytelling, but it doesn't bare it out in the writing. It's just Violence Jack without the rape, a lot of shallow melodrama pretending at being complex, playing at having character and world building (and not succeeding very well) so that you don't notice how truly trashy and shallow it is. The characters are paper-thin and the story is just an excuse for carnage. Which, again, I wouldn't mind, except it tries to be more than it is, and fails terribly.
In the 1980s, AoT would have been made into a four or five part OVA and that would have been it. We would have looked back and said, "Yeah, what a crazy, stupid, but fun show" the way we look at Cyber City Oedo (or really, anything Kawajiri-related), instead of holding it up as "the next FMA". It wears out its welcome because its premise isn't regularly revitalized by the writing.
Deadman Wonderland knows it's trash, really fun, ridiculous garbage that revels in its excesses. So yeah, I'd prefer that.

....... Can we get something like The Legend of the Legendary Hero on instead? At least that show is more enjoyable than AOT. And a rerun nonetheless.....

SquadmemberRitsu thank you for not judging shows by narrow definition's and encouraging people to not hate on shows based on that. Each show has their own unique character's, stories, and lesson's to teach. Just because we as fans do not particularly like a show does not mean we need to hate on the show. There are plenty of anime's that I am not as interested in compared to other shows that I love every thing about them unconditionally. I do not hate the Anime's that I don't watch, and will not seek to criticize them because it is subjective if you will like the story. Difference's in what you like is fine, but it is no reason to hate on shows based on the show's popularity, fan base, or decisions made in the story. These are stories that are meant to be enjoyed and have fun watching or reading so if you enjoy that's good if not oh well there are plenty of other stories for you to look into that you might enjoy. Personal opinions are fine, but we should not let these opinions cause us to disrespect shows. Based on lumping all the anime or manga together under narrow definitions of saying that just because its part of a certain genre does not mean it does not have a unique story to tell. Remember these are stories made for fun sometimes with deeper reflection so just enjoy them.

You really don't get it, do you? You're basically saying that a show with ton of gore can't have a mature storyline but that's just so wrong on so many levels.
I know there are a lot of people out there who think anything with gore is inherently mature but having the extreme opposite way of thinking doesn't make you any better than those types.

That's not really what's he saying though. I disagree with all of what pengiuntruth is talking about in that I find AoT very entertaining while Deadman Wonderland is more trashy and garbage than fun and silly to me, but to extrapolate his opinion on AoT to cover all gore-y shows is faulty logic.

Well the way he puts it is as if he's directly opposed to the general idea of a gory show attempting to use mature storytelling.
Although now that I think about it, it's far more likely that he's specifically got some sort of grudge against the series and its fanbase itself that defies all logic and that he'd probably praise an older or less popular series for the same reasons.

Wow what's with the hate? Yeesh. I enjoy AoT and think it's a great, fun show which I haven't been invested in since god knows when. I'm just surprised it's returning after they said on the podcast that re-runs didn't do well.

If they're going to use the 3am slot for reruns, they should use it to air shows that haven't been on for some time like Deadman: Cashern Sins, Samurai 7, or Shin-chan.
Or use the slot for comedies to help ease into AS early morning comedies: Sgt. Frog, P&S...
Unconventional is the key.

They lost the license for those shows and can't air them again. The only reason they're rerunning Deadman Wonderland was that Funimation offered it to them for cheap right when they were losing FMA: Brotherhood.
Most shows on Toonami are acquired and treated on a case-by-case basis. Jason DeMarco said on his interview on ANNCast, he said it on his interview(s) on the Toonami Faithful Podcast and he's said it multiple upon multiple times on the Toonami Tumblr and his Ask FM page.
The way I'm seeing this is that Adult Swim's just gonna rerun Attack on Titan while they still have the rights to air the show. They don't have to worry about this with something like Space Dandy because they can air it for as long as they want due to them working with Bandai and Funimation.
