Some of those old songs are good. But of course the Evangelion OP is still on the list to sing.

The NGE op was on the top 10 most played anisongs at the place I did karaoke at when I was in Japan. But besides that a lot of it was im@s or Love live

This would be a good place to ask if anyone knows of any karaoke places in New York that has anisongs. Some advertise Korean pop, but I haven't seen any that claim anisongs. Not that my Japanese is good enough to sing em...

Kind of surprised to see something like Fafner in there, though I guess it was popular enough to warrant a sequel.

"Butter-Fly" is an excellent karaoke song. Lots of fun to belt out.

Cruel Angel's Thesis, Sousei no Aquarion and Butterfly for me.
And Slam Dunk first opening, if anyone remembers it...

I don't think it's a sign that the fandom has just met its end naturally, but that E8 just turned enough people off to find it distasteful. I'm sure the movie helped, but they'd probably need another full season to see it revitalized, but given enough time and enough new anime, most things do lose their fanatics.

I did "God knows" from Haruhi and "zero" from NANA when I was there years ago. Loads of fun!

I was not surprised at Cruel Angel and Aquarion on the list but I did not expect Shangri La (not that I'm complaining, it's a kick ass song) . The karaoke places I've been to have English, Spanish and sometimes even Korean music but no Japanese music though.

My friends and I are going to a Karaoke bar later this month with a Joysound system, we very likely won't be singing any J-pop- but if I get tipsy enough a ClariS song might appear. But I'm more excited to show off my pop-rapping "skillz"

Actually, God Knows is still one of the top songs that are still sung.

When I was living in Japan, my go to anime songs would be the Evangelion theme song, Night on the Summer Side from Kimagure Orange Road (even though Summer Mirage is a much better song), Virtual Star Embryology which always got weird looks from people who had never seen Utena, and Mezase Pokemon Master.

I would occasionally also try to sing the theme song from the first season of Ojamajo Doremi and sing along whenever my friend selected the Gatchaman theme song.

Of course, no visit to karaoke was complete without singing Osakana Tengoku (which appeared in Ben-To, so it totally counts as an anime song). Razz
