NEWS: Super 17, Original Anime to Appear in Dragon Ball Xenoverse Game

intresting guess GT is still at least semi canon bacause this game is using the story from DB Online which was done by akira toriyama

also I wonder if the animated special will be dubbed this time or if it is sub only like the others were Confused

Except the timeline for Dragon Ball Online did not contain events from GT, despite going past the years GT would occur.

Xenoverse is just taking ideas from it and bringing it to a new game, one that can have both canon material and other stuff (filler, older movies, GT, etc).

it's just nice they are putting GT in the game, now I liked GT yeah it had some dumb points such as Goku becoming a kid again (even though it was toriyamas idea) but some cool ones too like SSJ4 plus I still think it had a better ending to the series as a whole than Z did I mean Z ended with Goku flying off with some random kid and leaving his friends and family but in GT he sacrifised himself to save the entire universe (what he bacame after that is up for debate)

I bet that if this gets dubbed, Chuck Huber may want to play 17 again.

I don't think Toriyama is making GT canon per se.
I remember Toriyama having some "influence" on GT.

Next to that I believe 17 in general is one of his favourite characters.
A couple of years back it was revealed what both 18 and 17's real name was (Lazuli and Lapis respectively) and that 17 became a excellent Park Ranger (presumably already was when we glimpsed him in the kid buu saga) he married a zoologist and has 1 child and 2 adopted children.

With that out of the way I think 17 is a default playable character and I think Toriyama liked the idea of super 17.
If GT is not considered canon by him he might like the character so much that he consider it making it canon. Be it now or later (i doubt it's with this game as I think this game will be as non-canon as it could be ) but still Dragonball as a whole is making a strong comeback in polular media again so I wouldn't put it past him to explore future options with the series.

New OVA? I'm always up for that! Very Happy

Super 17 was one of the only good things about GT, so I think it'll be cool to play as him.

yeah read all that about the androids, it was nice to finally get some extra info on some characters and as for GT being canon i remember reading an interview he did for the japanese Dragon Box GT sets and Toriyama said GT was a side story and still part of the dragon ball story
