Why are we getting a spotlight for this show when no one is streaming it?

Why not? Isn't the purpose of Spotlight to shine light on shows released in a season, not necessarily what gets streamed here in the West?
There are 'other' venues if you want to watch it. Quite liked the first episode myself... |

I have to say, after seeing this tweet, I wonder if Shoji Gatoh was being cheeky with the names.

I was under the impression that ANN didn't encourage using those "other" options, which spotlighting a show that has no means of viewership outside those unofficial channels would certainly seem to encourage. I can see how king 47 or others might see this as a little confusing. I understand that this might not be ANN's intent. They probably just want to highlight a show they think is unique or interesting, but perhaps a little clarification would help as to why certain anime are chosen for the spotlight. |

Am I the only person who finds it somewhat amusing that the princess named after Queen Latifah is blonde-haired, blue-eyed, and very pale-skinned?
Not sure whether KyoAni's being intentionally ironic by making Latifah a "person of pallor". |

Hey, don't blame KyoAni on that name-based-on-whatever thing. If you want to blame someone, it's Gatoh.
Also, the theme-naming doesn't really mean anything. The show can still be good even if the characters have ridunkulous name. And don't "Oh, she's Queen Latifah because her name is Latifa." uurrgh people. Fullmetal Alchemist creator Hiromu Arakawa even told that she used any name, whatever she found cool for her characters (aside of the military aircraft theme naming for the family names). I unexpectedly interested in this one after just a single episode, even though after reading the synopsis and manga it just never looked interesting for me. |

There are plenty of sites that are streaming it.
Only many are not considered a legal streaming outlet. I'm currently watching Ai Tenchi Muyo!. ANN, CrunchyRoll, Hulu, or even Funimation{Which holds the current rights to the Tenchi Muyo! franchise} are not streaming it.
Or at least put in a note, stating it currently is not streaming on any legal streaming website outlets. This reminds me of Ben To! when it came out 2011. Very few people had heard of it, because it wasn't getting streamed by the major Anime outlets. But now Funimation has it streaming on they're site. Dubbed, and a DVD/Blu-Ray boxsets are coming out. Is this going to happen with this as well? Signed: Janitor Tzap |

I'm under the impression that ANN does not create these themselves; companies send in the info. We've yet to have a spotlight (at least in my memory) that hasn't been picked up. Being that Amagi is a TBS series, it's possible this will be a delaycast.

I hope you're right about it being a delaycast. It sounds like one of the more interesting series to have come out this year. It could possibly even usurp Haikyu!! and Witch Craft Works as my front-runners for best anime of the year. However, I also fear that this could end up as another Hyouka, with no official release in sight for us. |

I'm aware that we can watch it through pirate sites, but I don't want that. It's the same as with Hyouka, which was made by the same director. I used to download anime before streaming was available.
But I find it funny that a show is being advertised, or introduced, when it's actually not available. For those who don't like the names, I read somewhere that they were random celebrity names. They are not supposed to be related to the real world counterparts. And as for Latifah, I'm sure it's named after Queen Latifah. But the word Latifah is actually Arabic and means sweet or kind [referring to a female.] Latif would be the masculine equivalent. |

Technically, we'd be giving them up to $11.95 for the subscriptions. |
