Can we just ignore the movies and make a series based on the games? Why can't the Paul Anderson movies just die already?

Why do you think that a series based on the games would be significantly different from the movies based on the games?
I have never played the games, but I have watched and enjoyed the movies, except for the most recent. A series based on the movies is something that I would be interested in.
I also enjoyed the first anime movie. I own the second but have not gotten around to watching it yet. I have a huge backlog.

Because there are people, such as me, who like them and pay money to buy and watch them.

People who are not familiar with the source material might be able to enjoy the movies more than the fans of the games do.

They were aimed at people who never played the games. He could do whatever he wanted and you wouldn't have a clue. Not that you would care. If you were to pick up each playstation game and look at the front and back cover, that is about as much as those movies had to do with the games.

The games are amazing, an HD version of the gamecube remake is coming. If you enjoyed the movies, try watching a youtube video of it to compare or see what we are talking about.

The CGI movies are lame and go no where. Its mere Leon fluff and Lickers were never that big.

Interesting, I'd watch this. I didn't know the next film is the last, but, yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing more Alice on tv, but maybe just keeping it to a cameo. Idk, she doesn't really have much of a personality. I don't think she'd fair well in a tv show.

I also wouldn't mind if Michael Rodriguez was in this, but maybe not as the character she played in the movie series spoiler[ though she was a complete badass in the latest movie, but it technically wasn't the actual character lol. ]

Kill it with fire and adapt that Romero script.
The second CG movie was ok. C+

The problem is that you can count on your fingers the similarities between the games and the movies. Alice was never in any of the games, and the characters that were in them get pushed to the side so she can save the day. Sound familiar? An adaptation of a popular franchise where an OC is the main character and ends up making the actual characters look like bitches by comparison. It's like an official fan fiction.

This has potential to be as good as "The Walking Dead," but they can start by giving us a protagonist who isn't a total Mary Sue.

The Resident Evil movies are proportionally even more popular in Japan, and those people don't play the games.

My point was that it is not a problem for those of us who do not play the games.
The differences are not a good thing, but they are not a bad thing either. They are just not a thing at all.

The fact the world's most expensive love letter to a guy's wife hasn't died already makes me sad.

I'm glad enough people enjoy these movies that they keep making more. The games are great, the movies are great, and the animated films are great. Too much drama in The Walking Dead, if the TV version of Resident Evil is all action, it could be great too.

But what could be even more fun is a live action adaptation of Highshool of the Dead, including the bullet time breast physics. If not that, at least HOTD season 2.

Maybe I'm being too judgmental. After all, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" was based on a mediocre movie, and that helped Joss Whedon become a Geek God.

I shouldn't worry about Alice though. Milla Jovovich would probably be too expensive for this series anyway.

Wow, I remember watching the movie as a child. Now the sixth and final film.
