Why did they turn male clothes into girl clothes?

TBH I think it's hardly connected to Durarara. Those fashion apparels are not anywhere near Izaya or Shizuo except for those specially-created illustration. The knife design? Oh, that's just atrocious, I can't even tell what it is.
I still get the CCS or Detective Conan design, but this one is just too forced.

^Completely agree. To me, this just seems like some lazy designer wanted an excuse to stick a high price tag on their otherwise not-particularly-creative work, so they added something that can connect it to a popular franchise (if you're half drunk and then squint... I mean, how on earth is that supposed to be a knife?). It's not the first time I see this "otherwise mediocre product gets stamped with the name of something popular for the sake of selling it for the price of liquid gold" and it's honestly one of the sneaky business practices I find more odious.

Sounds like cologne/perfume companies to me. "Hey, I mixed vanilla extract, rose oil, and unicorn farts together. It's terrible, but how can we sell it for a hundred bucks?" "...Can we get Justin Timberlake to put his name on it?" "Genius."

Has nothing to do with Durarara and is way too pricey.

If the designer said he was inspired by Durarara, who is to say he wasn't. Design has always been in the "eye of the beholder". Three quarters of the stuff designers put out I could care less about, but obviously they have their market, and that is who they are catering to.

The designer thinks its a women's market, and it would be a bonus if men bought them for their girl friends, or for their silicon replicants. It is understandable why they chose to modify the clothes for the female form, as the female fans care more about those characters, than male fans do.
