Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! (TV) Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! -Heart Throb- (TV) Genres: comedy, drama, romance Themes: bishoujo, delusions, school, school life Plot Summary: High school freshman Yūta Togashi was once a "chūnibyō patient" i.e. an overly self-conscious middle schooler. He wants to bury this embarrassing past and begins a new life in high school—unsuccessfully. His classmate Rikka Takanashi, a "current" chūnibyō patient, has found traces of residual symptoms on him and used the fact to force Togashi "making a contract" with her. ---------------------------------- After watching the "Lite" ONA special, I thought it was pretty entertaining. The theme song is well performed and the visuals are pretty well done, no surprise coming from KyotoAnimation. Maaya Uchida voices the one eyed eyepatch girl named Rikka Takanashi. She was so cute in that peculiar way with the baseball and umbrella. It was a pretty cute opening so far and so was the ED. Yup, this series might definitely be a fun watch for this Fall. It's KyoAni so I'll at least give it a chance.

I dug the short and I love KyoAni - I'm still on a Hyouka high. I'll definitely be all over this.

Did anyone else make the mistake of assuming the eye patch girl was voiced by the queen of tsunderes? I was like whoa Rie Kugimiya and Jun Fukuyama as the main characters. But then I checked and see its a relatively new voice actor who did the role of Rea Sanka.
Anyway I enjoyed the preview. The opening was nice. |

Ya, that was my original thought as well till I searched the VA for her role and turned out to be someone I wasn't familiar with. The voice didn't match with Rea either from Sankarea, so it came somewhat as a surprise here too. |

I enjoyed the short, I found the ending song especially cute and hillarious. I heard that this was being done by a different part of KyoAni to what did Hyouka, so I was expecting something with a different feel, but I was happy that it kind of felt like a mix of Hyouka and K-ON!. I have to watch more.

Episode 1
Well, that was an entertaining watch. The OP song was a bit catchy (so was the ED) with Rikka's Yuuta on the other hand seemed like a typical boy. Not too much happened in this episode but I enjoyed it overall. Those visuals by KyotoAnimation and the employment of the comedy were a few things to take notice of imo. But ya, looking forward to see what's ahead next week for this Fall series. |

As a person who loves stupid dances in openings, this show's opener is basically porn to me.

Never before in anime have I found something so relatable as '8th Grade Syndrome'. I know exactly what it is, the sudden mix of youthful imagination mixed with the the want to be something new, I feel like I've gone through it and I've seen a lot of friends go through it. It's a natural phase.
Though, I think this show is playing it up a bit, which is fine. I really like the main guy and his family and I also like eyepatch girl, though I hope she loses that eyepatch (not a fan of patches), but not at the cost of character. Kyoani hasn't disappointing me yet and doesn't look like they're going to. Great OP, too. |

Wait where did the godly opening song from the preview go????? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUBrjnv3Uwg
Anyway it was a nice episode. The animations were great. So far there are zero annoying characters and both main characters are awesome. I expect good stuff from this series. |

Episode
I am glad they used a different opening song, but I liked the other ending song better. I know I am going to love this show, it definetly has a Haruhi vibe, what with girl of weirdness getting attached to boy, said boy supposedly has a bit of a history of weirdness, but is trying to be normal. Our protaganist sure seems to easilly get physical with miss eyepatch, perhaps insinuating that he has quickly become comfertable with her. Miss Eyepatch does really have a Yui vibe with her sillyness and saying things are cool. I wonder if he will feel the urge to help her to prevent her from feeling lonely, although they seem to have plenty of chemestry refardless. What we saw of his family was also great, KyoAni tend to be strangely funny with family. I wonder what her family is like? |

Well, they kinda already insinuated that her sister is either non-existent or a workaholic, the latter probably being the case. This is going to be a cause of loneliness to Rikka and thus fuel not only her heightened '8th Grade Syndrome' and her attachment to the main guy. |

Yeah, one episode was enough. Watching teenage versions of 8-year-olds blabbering nonsense is not comedy for me. And those characters don't seem interesting enough, although I'm sure there's a sob story behind our one-eyed beauty's shenanigans.

Just watched first ep, just to see if I used to be too biased against KyoAni...
Nope, they still embody everything I hate about anime and otaku culture. Cookie-cutter premise, school setting, otaku bait, moe moe kyun kyun. Worthless trash that'll likely make tons of money. But hey, at least the visuals are good unlike usual, so maybe KyoAni fans won't have to make up ridiculous excuses this time round, like "oh but LOOK it may be ugly on screen they did the animation very well". This might've been a guilty pleasure for me if I were actually into this sort of thing, but I've always found the bandaged girl fetish rather weird. P.S. The insert background music was absolutely horrible. |
