Is this show hyped or is it actually just that good?

Never seen anything Fate related? Good, then watch it this October and judge for yourself. I read the VN some years ago and I love it. I'm excited because I thought we'd have DEEN's (awful) adaptation like the only Fate anime forever, and later they went and butchered UBW with a rushed movie, which as an action movie is fine but kills the story. That's why I'm happy to see an ufotable adaptation of UBW and HF as movie. Last edited by konqueror on Wed Sep 10, 2014 2:08 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Not mutually exclusive y'know. The production committee smells money so its obviously hyped as hell. There will be the inevitable backlash, some Fate/Zero fans will be particularly annoying. As to how good it is, you'll just have to watch. The source material isn't long enough for 2 seasons and isn't entirely self-sufficient without the other two parts. It needs some smart adapting so it's anyone's guess how this will turn out. I do expect flashy action, we've already had a glimpse in the trailers. |

Probably a bit of both, but hard to say until we actually see some results. Everything Aniplex produces always seems massively hyped through the roof with advertising, crazy promises (it is a Sony Media company after all) and trying to energize the online fanbases and source material fans if it's an adaptation, but sometimes the shows do kind of still turn out good. Fate/Zero was one of them IMO. I mean I'm not absolutely crazy head over heels bonkers for it like some people are as it's kind of a really slow build and some of the characters are great whereas some just flat out suck and it tries to play the whole despair card a bit too much IMO since it's written by Gen Urobuchi but I definitely enjoyed the show for the most part. Supposedly this is a little bit more mixed in tone and not quite as brooding and dark so it should be interesting to see how they try to capture that sort of thing. Honestly though I just try not even too pay attention to hyping nonsense anymore and just sort of laugh at the whole idea because it's the dumbest thing in fandom to me (not simply getting excited about and anticipating something but making an ass of yourself over it I mean in the rush to be the loudest most fervent voice) and nothing is ever as satisfying as it's implied by producers and source material fans to be. It's just such a superfluous idea and way of approaching a show that feels like wasted energy and playing right into the hands of advertisers and producers that will say and do anything as long as they think their show has a shot at making more money. I just watch what I like or what looks like something I would like and then form my own opinion on whether it's good or not. I just hope this is possible to comprehend to someone that isn't already a fan of the source material. So yeah if it's good it's good, if it's not it's not the end of the world and the season is far from doomed. I'll have plenty of shows to watch this Fall that I'm anticipating way more than I am this anyway. |

Where in LA is this being shown? I'll definitely go, just need to know the venue.
Edit: Never mind, I found where it's being held. |

Looks like the LA showing is 1 PM on Sunday 9/28 (since the Germany showing is the same date and time, these won't exactly be "simultaneous"...). Showing is at the Downtown Independent - tickets at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/867006

hopefully if it does get licensed in the US which i bet it will be aniplex of america, it would get an AS broadcast cause the series or fate zero would do well on AS and also , they would probably need a series to replace guren lagann when it finishes its run unless aniplex adds in kill la kill instead to be broadcasted on AS which is a 50/50 possibility.
