Let's be real. If Toei and Funmation was to release a new Dragon Ball anime series in Japan and America It would flop. Nobody seems to care about Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT anymore.

Why did you think Dragon Ball Z Kai flop in Japan? Because people seems not to care about the franchise any longer. after Bleach, Naruto and One Piece became big in Japan and America.

people seems to forgotten about all 3 Dragon Ball series. Why you think Toei is promoting One Piece harder then Dragon Ball Z Kai? They know One Piece is bigger then DBZK and generates more money then DBZK. All I'm saying is, Just be happy with the 3 DB series we all ready have.

Could you please support your claims? What metric are you using as your gauge for DBZ Kai, "flopping" in Japan? What charts are you using to prove that Kai doesn't sell like One Piece?

What? That's absurd. Dragonball Z has always been and continues to be an absolute monster hit for Funimation. I'm not sure how a new series would fair exactly and how much of that popularity would transfer over but I can say with certainty that if you're basing all this on the assumption that nobody cares about DBZ anymore then you are sorely mistaken.

Much as I would like for DBZ to permanently ride off in the sunset, I don't see the series fizzling out in popularity anytime soon considering the massive amount of appeal it has both in Japan and internationally. While DB and DBGT might be afterthoughts, DBZ has been a big franchise for companies like Funimation and Toei to milk money off of the past couple decades and the series played a major role in leading the anime boom of the late 1990s/ early 2000s that erupted here in America. Even with anime's popularity having tanked in recent years, Dragonball Z is still one of the widely recognized anime titles by viewers beyond Japan. To say that DBZ is tanking in Japan while it has been one of the anime industry's most recognizable titles within Japan and beyond for over 20 years now is absurd.

I can't believe I just had to defend DBZ. Shocked

Anyways didn't the ratings for Kai rival One Piece on a constant bases? Everytime I looked at the ratings ANN put up, Kai was right there with One Piece or top 10 and at times beat One Piece. I think the largest gap in ratings was 1 point.

What I heard about Kai was that the ratings were good, but nobody was buying the merchandise. No point in sinking more money into the last saga if their plan all along was to profit from merchandise.

More DBZ rumors? geez.
I don't know if a new DBZ series would flop or not, but it is untrue that Kai flopped. It's actually doing really well. If they did make another series in the DB/DBZ world though, as long as it wasn't like GT that would be fine with me.

If they did another Dragon Ball show, they might have to get somebody new to play Goku in the Japanese version. This is due to the actress who plays Goku is about 75 years old now, which is kind of risky for a long series (since Dragon Ball shows tend to be long).

Actually, this is the same guy who started the last DB rumor thread (they may as well be merged) and in both cases he disappears after his OP.

They might as well do. The Japanese Goku sounds like a 10 year old girl who just got orally abused.

If you're mainly quoting me, please read again, "Rumor THREAD".

You did have some support for the claim but it has apparently since vanished. That was you, and you never posted there after you started it.

But thank for looking for the support for your claims and don't forget your reasoning for the DB franchise in the US is faltering, even if One Piece get more advertising that probably just means it NEEDS more advertising.
