why is everyone so interested in kizumonogatari. I mean I have a pretty good idea about what happened based on the events in the last few seasons but Id much rather prefer a sequel rather than a prequel

I'm with you on that. I'm mostly just happy that the entire Monogatari series is going to be beautifully animated by SHAFT and is going to actually have an ending. I am very interested in Kizu as well, mostly because I want to see what SHAFT can do with a movie budget though. |

I bet they're already done Kizu. They're just gonna wait till the end of the Monogatari TV series to be finished...for style points. I can just hear Akiyuki Simbo saying, "We're gonna end with the beginning".

+1 I'm more than happy to just see things from Bake to the end being animated. Right now, Kizu would just be the cherry on top. Knowing we'll see the ending animated is what I find most important. With Second Season getting 31eps in total, I wonder how many Final Season would end up getting? While I've seen that Second and Final have the same number of books, I noticed that 3 volumes in Final are one story (Owarimonogatari). So, maybe we'll see 24eps? |

Maybe what he meant is what SHAFT can do with a movie budget.. for Monogatari series. I do think that SHAFT's treatment for the last Madoka Magica movie is visually impressive, compared to the Madoka Magica series. And I'm wondering the same thing too for monogatari series. Its style is quite different to Madoka, though surely still in Shinbo's distinctive style range. Monogatari I think, shows more simplicity with its dialogue driven stories. Yet, Kizu (judging from the teaser and event shown in the beginning of Bakemonogatari) seems to be quite an epic episode, or at least a little more epic than the other stories, so it's interesting when SHAFT decided it to be adapted into a movie.
I hope not. Iirc, I read some review/comment of those who have read some novels from the monogatari second season said that the didn't deliver pretty well compared to the adaptation of Bakemonogatari (2 novels, 15 episodes), the lack of episodes seems to be one main reason. With the 6-episodes Koimonogatari to be the best one. So I hope SHAFT will give the third season justice by giving each book at least 6 episodes (ahem, maybe one or two can have 5 episodes). I wonder how will they adapt Koyomimonogatari, though. It's like a collection of 12 short stories. |

Because it probably has the most action in it, and from all the actions scenes that you see in Bake and Nise, you know that they'll be done epically done by SHAFT (looking forward to pastel blood splatters) |

It's always hard for book adaptions to be loved by all. Not only because of the amount of material they may have to cover, but fans always go in with certain expectations. I know I've gone into some movies and shows with my own ideas of what an adaption "should" be like, and have come away slightly disappointed. Personally, I loved Second Season. But, I do wonder if I'd have problems with the anime if I had read the source material first. Though, with no legal way to do so (and my penchant to not read digital), I've no way to do so. So, you'd want Final Season to be 36 episodes. Now that I've given it some more thought, I think that your total would be better. Owarimonogatari seems to span volumes 3-6 (making the assumption based on the names given on MAL). Trying to do 4 volumes in 12 episodes, from my experience watching anime (which hasn't been that long), isn't a good idea. I was looking at it in a way as to fit the whole thing into 2 cours, which is usually 24 episodes. I'd actually be surprised if the number of episodes that cover Owarimonogatari would be less than 20. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to fit Tsukimonogatari and Koyomimonogatari into 12 episodes. May depend on how dense of a story Tsukimonogatari is, as I could see them going with 4 and 8 respectively. I can only guess when I say that some Koyomimonogatari stories may end up seeing 2 covered in one episode. |

I did some calculations the other day and figured if each arc for the final series got 4-6 episodes. (Based off of how many stories were in each book) I figured we would need any where from 36-46 episodes I believe. Bringing the total number of episodes in the series to about 100. (Give or take a few) I don't have the exact numbers I figured right now, but there should still be a lot more to come. However, I too am confused about how Koyomimonigatari will be adapted. |

I know, and although Rebellion was the only real new project, it was marvelous. I'm just excited to see what they can do specifically for kizumonogatari with all of its action and the unique style of the series. Whenever there has been action in the series so far it has been godly, so I'm looking forward to that. |
