Yes, SAO is insanely popular in the Asian areas I am familiar with.

China: Lord have mercy, "popular" is such an underwhelming word to describe SAO's popularity in that country. I have see so many Chinese viewers becoming exposed to Japanese animation because of that show, very similar to "Attack on Titan effect". The popularity was already sky-high before the show airs due to numerous novel readers, and that fanbase only grew even bigger when the anime hits.

Oh yeah, and worth to mention that the simulcast site of SAO in China: LeTV; basically made a fortune with that show along.

Similar case in Korea and Indonesia.

No need to mention Japan since the sales of LN and BD already did their talk, and while the anime airs, it is a hot topic no matter which Japanese forum I visit.

Although I am definitely not a huge fan of SAO, but there is no denying that this show has considerable popularity that basically took east Asia by storm

Sadly.

Thankfully actually. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to buy the LN which has the SAO arc done right. ALO is another matter though.

It is popular, but now they're pushing it too much.

Given AoT's popularity, a international tour bus for it is possible.

An immature statement, you should respect that everyone has different preferences.

I am also hoping for Attack on Titan bus tour instead of this Sword Art Online II bus tour. SAO has nothing good compared to Attack on Titan.

I stopped reading SAO after the Phantom Bullet arc. To be honest, that arc was the only decent read so far into the series. I'd rather read Log Horizon or Overlord if I want to truly experience a well-written fantasy light novel.

However, I am still excited to see the series animated, especially the Phantom Bullet arc.

One could argue that you should respect his opinion that it is "anime cancer on wheels." Like you said, "everyone has difference preferences," and he expressed his.
