I wonder if Kindaichi's good ratings (or at least they seem to be) will be enough for the TV channel and Toei to extend the anime beyong 26 episodes.

I don't know, Kindaichi is doing roughly the same as Space Brothers did.
My guess is that they thought the similar motif of this new lead-in would give Conan a boost, but that isn't happening. On the other hand, DB Kai is doing noticeably better than Toriko. |

Space Brothers only occasionally appeared in the Top 10 and at maximum did 5.4. Kindaichi is always in the Top 10, has an average of 5.6 and for two consecutive weeks achieved 6(this week 6.0 and other 6.7).
Kindaichi is doing better than Space Brothers. |

That's not true. I didn't even have to search much to find a 5.8. animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-02-23/japanese-anime-tv-ranking/february-10-16 And being in the top 10 more doesn't mean a lot, as it's a new season, with many different contenders. The new PreCure is doing worse than the previous, for instance. Anyway, checking the Space Brothers section here, you can see it was top 10 almost every week, only occasionally out. |
