For those of you who saw the episode tonight with Naruto and Jiraiya, His dub was pretty good. I mean, I didn't know what Toonami would do with Jiraiya's pervertion (due to his craziness for hot chicks and him always getting drunk). But after watching it, it wasn't really bad. They let Jiraiya go crazy when Naruto used his hot and sexy jutsu and him always sneaking up to see ladies under their clothes and they allowed the fact that he his books are similar to Playboy (he told Naruto that his books are only for people over 18 which means they're X-rated). I knew Toonami wouldn't edit Jiraiya's personality all along.

It seems like you had faith in Toonami and their editing job. But theirs still the matter of the other characters voices that were done poorly. While i'm not going to try and turn this thread into a overall discussion of the Eng dub i want to emphasize the fact that the dub still has alot of work that needs to be done. But overall Toonami did do a good job with the editing.

I was pleased with the (lack of) editing on this one. I think it's the first bathhouse scene toonami's left intact.
For the record though, Jiraiya's Icha Icha Paradise (Make-out Paradise) books aren't visual porn like Playboy, they're more like dirty novels, all text. They are dirty though. Apparently.

I guess that doesn't count digital bikinis, because then Tenchi would be first.
And I'm pleased with what I'm hearing about Toonami's letting all of Jiraiya's antics show in full force. I'm not surprised, though. Ever since the advent of TV-PG on Toonami, they've gotten away with a lot (DBZ Uncut, the Miyazaki films, etc.).

Having not watched any of the Japanese episodes beyond 25, I have to say that I was still impressed with Jiraiya's voice. I've seen his appearance in the manga, and from that standpoint I think his voice suited his character well. I'm not surprised that Toonami didn't edit too much out, seeing as not much has been edited out of Naruto to begin with. I've been extremely impressed with the Viz's dubbing job and Toonami's edits so far, and I think the dub is really turning out quite well, but that's just me.
I'm sure there are a lot of Naruto fans who are rejoicing at the lack of edits from this episode, but no doubt people who are still complaining. Come to think of it, I saw somebody complaining about the voice just last night after the episode had ended, but I suppose it's really a matter of opinion. It seems as though a lot of people do like his English voice, so that's good.

Exactly my point. They cut the bathouse episode of Outlaw Star entirely (even though it was the most plot-filled ep in the series in my opinion), and they left in most of the Tenchi scenes, but edited unnecessarilly (I can see covering up the nude characters, but adding bikini straps to characters wearing towels is just too ridiculous).

I don't think it's perfect, and I hated it at first, but over the course of the episode the range displayed sold me, so I think he makes a fine Jiraiya.

Isn't Jiraiya played by Crispin Freeman in the dub? If so, it seems like it'd be hard to complain too much about him...he's always proven to be a solid actor in dubs.

No, Crispin Freeman is doing Ebisu. Jiraiya is done by David Lodge, who has few major VA credits to his name (mostly stuff like Transformers, Prince of Tennis, and Digimon).
