I'm just wondering how'd they fit that into their budget? Is One Direction willing to work cheap over there or something?

I'm far from fond of the group, but it seems like an appropriate fit in tone and demographic (not saying the film is for 12 year old girls, it seems more a young adult/late teens style of film, and One Direction strikes me as a group that would be popular in that demographic in Japan, as they're similar to what said demographic does like over there). While there certainly could have been better choices, it doesn't bother me, I'm rather impartial here for once.

Yeah no. I love when they get other bands to sing for other county movies . Like Spyair did with Spider-Man. But this just is bad

I honestly don't know how they managed to pull this off, but why did they go with a One Direction song for the theme?

Huh, that's a bit surprising. Out of all the 1D songs, always thought that the most anime/manga-appropriate would be "(You Don't Know) What Makes You Beautiful":

Oh well, anyways One Direction just touched down for their first concert in Japan last year and this February opened up --what else-- their own cafe in Tokyo of course. That's likely how they're having these promos now.



But nothing's funnier than when ESPN horribly butchered their name on TV during the Japanese Little League game last summer: Laughing

Who knows but I've seen some of the Japanese version and a song from some boyband just doesn't fit

Because this movie is not for niche anime fans like us.

It's for normal everyday people who would probably listen to something like this.

Seriously people, this is not that surprising. A mainstream movie using a mainstream band for its theme? HOLY SHIT STOP THE [expletive] PRESSES

(For the record, I have zero opinions on this one way or the other)

Eh my goodness
I could imagine a shoujo manga with female protag that admiring the jack-of-all-trade the prince charming of the school and turns out that prince also secretly admires her because he knows she's a beautiful person from the inside Shocked
