Not a bad-looking cat at all, all things considered. Here's hoping we get to see this in the states, or that their Blu-ray will come with English subs, because this definitely looks to be as charming as the original!

Can we say Japanese Harry Potter, or is that too obvious?
Hmm... I wonder about the temptation about adapting the rest of these books into a series that continues beyond the live-action and anime feature.
Loved the anime film to be sure. Hope the Blu ray release is around the corner, soon!
BV Disney/Tokuma have really redefined what "staggered", "planned", and "staged" mean in terms of these releases!

No Negima would be somewhat closer to Japanese Harry Potter.

GeorgeC: Kiki book and anime film predate Harry Potter. Though I was thinking of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, myself.

I wonder if anyone will try to dub Phil Hartman's voice into this?

Having her now ride a vacuum cleaner at the end instead of a janitor's broom doesn't help the comparisons much either.
But, looks like all-CGI for Jiji, rather than the revived-taxidermy that Salem was.
(I remember when the Disney dub first came out; nobody had seen Ghibli yet besides Totoro, and everyone was comparing how much more laid back Miyazaki was compared to 90's Disney: "If this was a Disney film, Kiki would have to fight her way through a big climactic thunderstorm at the end!"
The brief scenes of Kiki trying to reach Tombo through a typhoon--while requiring less budget than a blimp crash--do seem to rather betray this idea somewhat.)

I'm happy to see that Jiji doesn't look awkward. I was worried about what he'd turn out like knowing a great deal of Japanese CGI doesn't look pretty.
