A clip shouldn't get cut off like that, but whatever. I don't think they know how to market the film here, anyway, which isn't surprising.

That's what I was thinking. The trailer was good, but the clip ended rather abruptly... ...and no, I don't want to see "Kenny Chesney's Beach-Booze" whatever the hell was playing next, lol. |

I'm going to blame the Wall Street Journal for that one guys, why they're not committed to play the entire thing I dunno, some higher up probably objected to the scene towards the end with the girl's unfortunate problem. This trailer has actually been up on YouTube for the past 4 months so this is nothing new... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhHoCnRg1Yw Touchstone (or whoever at Disney) prepared this trailer for their release that is also up on the interwebs too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8N_chDFmUo |

For me it was something about a sailor kissing some girl, but I didn't bother watching it. I'm not upset by the fact it was cut short since I have already seen the full trailer (untranslated but I had an idea of what the story was about). On the other hand I do agree that they should play the trailer fully, because it's only appropriate that they do. Or of they are that concern about the scene in the end they could have play Disney version of the trailer that Toledo shared with us (thanks for sharing the link by the way Toledo ^ ^). Anyway I am looking forward to seeing it in theaters, and I'm going to make an effort to watch every film that comes out that I want to see this year (because in the past I haven't done that). |

Whatever randomly shows up I guess.
It's nice to get praise.
I'll have to see if it even shows up at all where I am, but I bet it will be in the same place they stick all their arty films down in Perrysburg, nobody cares for my neck of the woods anymore when I had a theater that played such gems like Triplets of Bellevue a decade back. |

Yeah.
Well you're welcome.
I never heard of Triplets of Bellevue but I am sure the film would be available in theaters near you. The article did said the movie would be available everywhere in the U.S next month. |

Well if I managed to get some money handy next month. I simply was being nostalgic to that time in history when I had a thing for seeing foreign/indie flicks that don't get played at regular cinemas. |

Oh I see. It's nice that you live close to a theater that would play movies that are from outside this country. It's too bad there isn't much of an audience for foreign movies here (although their have been a few movies that were played in main cinemas that were from outside this country now that I think about it, but the only ones I can think are a few movies from Studio Ghibli and the first three Pokémon and Digimon movies).

I second the thanks for that link Toledo.
I'm also trying to do my best to see a lot of anime in theatres this year. I've already got three on the schedule. Anohana, this and EVA. I'm kind of sad I missed Madoka Magica... oh well. |

I was actually referring to films in general that come to my area, but have fun watching those movies. At least you get to see those movies in theaters as they won't be coming to any theater where I live.

Oh, I hear ya. Well if you ever have the desire to see more indi stuff and can make it up to northern VA you can usually find anything that is hard to find elsewhere. That's if you can handle 95 traffic through Richmond and up to Fairfax. :/ |

I bothered seeing the first Pokemon movie when that showed up here though I had already spoiled myself watching a raw copy of it before so it didn't have the same impact on me because I could tell what was altered in the US release. Of course there was the time I saw Princess Mononoke with a lot of kids in a theater.
You're welcome (yet I'm sure some will think I'm a troll for what I do).
My theater-going experience has sorta dropped when they stopped doing the 35mm thing. It just didn't feel right to me.
Usually smaller communities get the short-end of the stick as I see it. I always thought my town did though we did have two competing chains throughout the 80's (AMC and National Amusements), now after several buyouts it's all Cinemark territory here. I sorta miss the competition that was in place when you had separate chains or Ma & Pa operations to deal with. |

I see you are familiar with Central Virginia. I made it through Fairfax once. I went on a family trip there to a shopping mall last month/year. The traffic was bad heading back home as we got stuck in two or three traffic jams. I don't know if I would go that far to see a indie/foreign movie, but thanks for suggesting.
You saw the first Pokémon movie in it's original Japanese dub back in the 90s? This to me comes as a surprise, but only because at the time I wasn't familiar with the anime/manga subculture, nor the fact the shows I were watching were severely edited (in fact I didn't even know that Pokémon and the other anime shows from Japan were from Japan. I thought they were made in the U.S). It's most likely due to that I was child attending elementary school during that decade, and knew knowing who was a nerd to share this with me. If I've grew up a decade earlier or so I might heard of it. Oh and the fact that at the time the terms anime and manga were not yet common terms among people here as they are now had something to do with it as well.
Why would someone think you are being a troll for sharing links that relate to a topic?
More like communities that are not as well known throughout the world or communities that are not close to such well known places like New York City or Washington D.C. I wouldn't say the community I love on is small, at had been growing throughout the years, but it's in the same status as those places I mention, nor close to the places for that matter. the county is next to the capital of Virginia however, but I don't think it's well known throughout the word. (Even though I heard last year that the capital has been added to a list of places to visit in the U.S so the city is starting get some recognition. I think the fact Richmond was one of the places the movie Lincoln was film also might have helped some). [/i] |

All because i was older than you I suppose (already out of public education at the time). It was pretty easy getting this stuff if you knew where to turn to. I managed to get hooked up with someone on the West Coast who sent me copies of the first 30-40 episodes plus the first movie. I even had the "Seizure episode" I had to get my hands on too having heard so much about it as well. At that time, I felt like I was the only one who gave a s--t for Pokemon at all despite not really being interested in the games they came from (even the KFC's in town didn't offer the beanie toys I asked a guy in Houston to send me one of I bothered leaving in it's original package), the show took quite a while to show up locally as I think it's initial run in syndication didn't show up at all until it was on KidsWB the following year.
I dunno, I suppose with every passing year I feel more out-of-it with this fandom anyway, and often feel like I'm being a teacher to these younger fans who might not know all the details yet. The things we had to find out for ourselves sooner or later.
You'd be amused at the few times someone may mutter my town's name in something just for a cheap joke. There is a nice town up in Michigan though I went to once, Ann Arbor, where I got to see a silent movie in a downtown movie theater, sepia toned, with organ accompaniment. I'd say that was the best experience I ever had. Can't really get that back home though I'd love to see it happen someday. By the way, I did do a crappy student film you can check out here... |
