Seeig the words "Hiroshima" and "drops" in the same sentence made me think of something entirely different.
What would the reclamation project have done? Is the conflict here over the historical and/or cultural significance of the harbor, the locals wanting to keep its distinct look a la the Greek island of Mykonos? |

Yes, maybe "Scuttle" or "Abandon" would have been better choices than "Drop" for this particular headline.
It looks like the bridge would have not only altered the harbor itself by requiring a fill, but would not be in harmony with the "period" look of the area. Probably a wise decision. Mark Gosdin |

It would also mean that a lot of traffic would be channelled through this area which probably requires a change of infrastructure as well.
