I haven't watched many tennis theme anime so definitely excited for this. The premise sounds fun to me.

That spiked mohawk on top of his regular hair looks so out of place. Laughing

You recover after several years once you accept nothing will ever come even far from Ace wo Nerae, so yep, I will watch this and probably enjoy it.

Prince of Tennis was great for the first 20 episodes or so. After that it was shit.

New Prince of Tennis was so shit that I literally stopped reading the manga within the first couple of chapters.

Ace of Nerae might be 30 years old, but it is arguably the best tennis anime/manga ever made. Of course, it was from when people will still using wooden racquets...

The story follows "Ei-chan," a punctual and earnest boy who has strived for straight As since elementary school.

Punctual, earnest and wearing one of the silliest hairstyles in recent anime history...

But that aside, the manga seems to strive for realism which is always a big plus for me whenit comes to sports series, so i'm moderately interested.

Baby Step is better Ace Wo Nerae. atleast the manga is better if you look at it objectively, instead of subjectively or based on history.

I think it's just a matter of perception. People weren't really paying attention before. Sports and competition themed shows have always been there. Like every season. It's just that before Crunchyroll, almost none of them ever made it over to the US.

yeah, it's making a comeback. There are more sports anime this year compare to few year's before. This season have 4 sports anime already. I don't count the Wanna be the Strongest in the World, that's more like a fan service anime. I think in 2011, there are like 5 real sports anime total.

You forgot Free! - 2013 (Swimming) I think there were a couple of others but I can't remember or I could also be thinking of shows from a later year than 2011.

Sports anime will most likely go up as the Tokyo Olympics approaches.

I want a remake of Attack No.1, but on second thought, better not to, what if it ends up moefied Mad

Shocked Shocked Shocked

Objectively speaking noone comes even far of Ace wo Nerae, we can discuss so many points but I will will only mention with the easiest one that makes it excels form all other instantly: Memorable powerful characters, Hiromi Oka remains of the most memorable heroines of all time.

I understand your point however, its true that sometimes objectively speaking some series can be better...mmm... technically (in several ways) lets say, from those that MADE HISTORY, but we cannot ignore that history complete as they made history for a reason.

I disagree completely that this is the case of Ace wo Nerae, IMO at least, we dont have that many tennis anime and I have yet to see an anime or manga that as mentioned, comes even far from Ace wo Nerae in terms of story and characters which is what made Ace wo Nerae a legendary classic, specially its iconic characters, specifically Oka.
