Well, that's nice to hear.
Hope the French fans will enjoy. Beside anime, will dramas (K-dramas, chinese-language dramas) be included for the French-language version? |

In France, we already have other plateforms that propose simulcast. Crunchyroll arrives a little late, but still, with an interesting offer that can evolve.

I'm still waiting for the "local" Spanish subtitles for Crunchyroll in Spain, can't like the latino subs that are still there... They even created a specific "Spanish (Spain)" option for the language, but it's still latino Spanish, though not with such a strong use of their specific jargon.
I'm happy they're at least bringing anime we otherwise wouldn't be able to see in a completely legal way, but I and many people just don't like and don't feel at ease reading latino Spanish subtitles. It's annoying enough having to read and move your attention out of the action, so doing it in a language we don't feel good with is just worse. I barely know anyone using CR since it came to Spain, it just doesn't seem to work here, and I'm quite sure it's because of this issue, alas, it may just be in my area (Barcelona). |

Hmm. Up until now, http://www.genzai.fr/ has been a French mirror of the Crunchyroll site (don't know what shows have been on it since viewing it from the UK I see the UK lineup, same as with crunchyroll.com/co.uk) but is now merging with Kaze's KZPLay to become Anime Digital Network: http://animedigitalnetwork.fr/

Yes, Kana Home Video was hiring Crunchyroll (perhaps pooling their own rights with Crunchyroll's (limited) French rights in the process, I am not sure). But they are now in a joint venture with Kaze, so Crunchyroll can put their French rights into their own branded site. ADN has Naruto Shippuden, Hunter x Hunter and Space Brothers as their longer running series, sequels Magi 2 and Kuroko's Basket 2, where I believe it'll inherit the originals as catalog titles, and for this broadcast season add Coppelion, Outbreak Company, Log Horizon, Arpeggio of Blue Steel, Strike the Blood, Wanna Be the Strongest in the World, and Beyond the Boundary. I do not know which ones Crunchyroll has French subtitle rights for, but Crunchyroll has French streaming rights for Galilei Donna, Walkure Romanze, Golden Time, White Album 2, Little Busters Refrain, Nagi no Asukara, Couldn't Become a Hero, and for premium members Ace of the Diamond and Gingitsune: Messenger Fox God, plus whatever continuing or longer running series they may have French rights for. |

Except that they're not "latino" subs. There are literally zero latino idioms in Spanish CR subs, they are standard Spanish. If Spain gets "local" subs, why shouldn't Mexico, Colombia or Argentina? Spanish is spoken very differently in those three countries. How about different subs for Monterrey and Yucatan? Hey, the Spanish localized subs should be different in Andalucía and Madrid, because clearly nobody can read or understand stuff that is not in their local dialect. Seriously, snap out of it. It's never going to happen. |
