Well, it's kind of hard to choose, but I think I'll pick Negima because it has more action and I love the magic stuff. But I still like Love Hina.

I'm a fan of both of them. Love Hina was my first manga series that I collected. I'm really enjoying Negima's story and art a lot as well.

Definately Negima. I loathe Love Hina with a passion. Harem stories are never a favorite. Negima's cute, with less stupid.

Umm... this post of yours seems to imply that you believe that Negima isn't a harem manga/anime...?

"Harem" doesn't always equal "bad"
Some of my favorite series are technically "harem", I guess:
____
Ah! Megami-sama
Tenchi Muyo
Ranma 1/2
Love Hina
_____
There are plenty of bad examples as well, just like any other archetype.

The only things that it got going for them is Fanservice and comedy with fanservice, nothing deep, but it is entertaining. While the first time you read one (tenchi) , it might be really good but then every other title just copy the same formula: Guy is surrounded by girls. Guy get in funny yet sexual situation with girls to provide laugh and arousal. All girls lust over the guy.
Unrealistic sexual situation is something that fanboys can't get enough of. Hate it or love it, harem series ain't going no where.

iI like both of the mangas, Love Hina was one of the first series i collected. but i have to say that i like Negima better. There is more excitement, with its magic compared to Naru and the girls kicking Ketaro's @$$ all the time. with Love Hina the out come was given since the first volume he was going to eventually get into Tokyo U and end up with Naru but with Negima its still not quite given and it keeps you guessing what will happen next.
Love Hina was long but very entertaining, i hope negima will be too. Its to bad the books get released every 3 to 4 months, i dont mind the wait. with the Oh! My Goddess manga its 7 month between vol 19/20 (1-15-2005) and vol 21 (7-15-2005).
I wonder, who do you all think Negi should end up with? if you dont mind me asking.

Tenchi may fall under the harem category, but it is hardly ruled by fanservice like Love Hina or Negima(at least not the OVA). The charater development for TM! is very good.

I'm getting off topic, but I don't consider Oh My Goddess! harem at all. For one thing, with the exception of Peorth (who doesn't even live with K1), only Belldandy is romantically interested in Keiichi (this view comes from reading to where the manga currently is). Skuld loves him as a big brother, and Urd loves him as a little brother. And the story isn't structured around exposing panties.
Personally, I dislike the genre. Love Hina was kind of fun for a couple of volumes, but then it's one joke got old and there were no good character interactions to carry the story to the end. I guess Negima, as it has better art and generally more likeable characters. It's still isn't the great, but I'm still borrowing it from a friend. I didn't even want to read LH for free after 10 volumes.

Down with harem! I have some friends that are only into those fanservice animes and mangas and I think it's stupid. Are people that shallow? Do they really just want the same continuous humor and slapstick violence with an overabundance of fanservice? Don't people want to try differnent genres or something more intellectually stimulating? Do people really want to wallow in the same pit of mind-numbing mediocrity when they can expose themselves to greater things?
Hate me. Ignore me. Sorry, just ranting.

Well, to clarify, Negima's not quite as awful as Love Hina in that aspect. He's ten(technically nine)... Having long been in a group of girls, I know full and well how girls will go nuts over a cute little boy. Yes, there's the kissing and romantic involvement from a few girls, but their relationship with him is not the central theme of the story. They're not seen as tormenters or sex fantasies as in Love Hina, but as people with goals and interests.
Besides, Negima, the character, isn't half as bad as Keitaro. He's confident and tries his hardest, as opposed to Keitaro who tends to wallow in self-loathing. And since he's younger(or Akamatsu's grown up a bit, I can't tell which), there's far less boob and nudity jokes. There's more of a definate story.
I know there's some pretty decent harem anime, but most are just kind of sad.
