I think your overly worried, VIZ is more then likely going to do the same thing with Bleach that they did with Naruto. Probably release a dub only version, that all the "true" bleach fans will hate. And then sometime after will be an uncut box, including subs and dub that are fateful to the show.
Till next time,

No no, in the spirit of recent threads around here, I think Viz is going to "rape" Bleach, in every sense of the word Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Why do you think Bleach will be heavily edited? It'll be on Adult Swim, not Toomami, and Viz has announced that unedited DVDs will go on sale in November. As for the dub, it will probably be on the quality level of the Naruto dub (which is not bad, and pronounces most names correctly), and there's no "catchphrase" to worry about with Bleach like Naruto's "Believe it!". Considering that Viz had nothing to do with the One Piece English version, why would Bleach suffer a similar fate? Or is this all a "justify keeping the fansubs instead of getting the DVDs" argument? If you're going to go that route, at least come up with a better reason. (For example, I don't want to buy DVDs for series whose episode counts and thus disc counts are still unknown; since Bleach and Naruto are still airing in Japan, I'm not rushing out to buy those DVDs.)
P.S. I haven't heard anything about edited DVDs -- since Bleach doesn't have the same U.S. target audience as Naruto, I don't know if Viz will do dub-only discs for Bleach.

Thank you. This is trivial speculating and useless worrying, the main concern for me with editting is that in Cowboy Bebop (Which also aired on adult swim) alot of bloodspray had to get cut. Hopefully censorship on this specific aspect has lightened up, because we all know bleach has lots of blood spray, and it would stink to see it all removed and bloodless cuts made.

As far as voices, I agree with Zalis, with Naruto's success we can most definitely expect good English VAs, although it will never be the "true" bleach you knew and loved, voice-wise, I'm sure it'll be great.

Not to mention I think all my friends who make fun of me for anime but watch AS will like it.

bad is a matter of opinion. People are biased against the english voices because japanese voices are what they are used to.... besides some minor blood edits and some language being a little toned down, naruto is 97% intact, save the OP and ED, which aren't that big a deal anyway.

summary: english naruto is awesome, just not everyone's preference. Hopin for the same with bleach!

I've been trying to keep up with who would be playing as some of the characters, but the only important character I've seen added is ishida's voice actor, which is the same actor that plays sasuke in the english naruto.

if they do nerf bleach i wouldnt be too surprised since its not everyday that you see a great or even good dub of an anime series. but im hoping for the best.

oh and sorry for the 1-line post before. im new to the thread as you can see. Laughing

Yuri Lowenthal (Sasuke) isn't Ishida. He confirmed in an email to a popular Bleach website that he was casted for a minor role. I wouldn't call Ishida a minor role.

The webmaster of that site (which will remain nameless since it have fansub links but want to provide news on everything Bleach related) emailed Yuri to confirm he has a role.

Yuri's reply:

"Hey, Timothy (the webmaster's name)! I think they'll be doing an official BLEACH dub cast announcement soon, so I'm not sure if I should say anything, but I think you'll be happy with the casting. I play a minor role on the show. They (VIZ & Studiopolis) are taking great care with the series, and know that there are a lot of nervous and excited fans out there. "

well i'll just have to have faith in VIZ media(hahaha) and hope that they make the english version of the show watchable. but im not to sure when they plan to show it on adult swim. Judging my their current progress id have to guess sometime in the winter of '06 or the start of 2007. but probably 2006.

Oh, how wrong you are, saninslayer. According to the Adult Swim schedule, they are going to be airing the first Bleach episode at 11:30 on September 9th. It will be airing in the Fall of '06, not winter.

Did... you miss Fullmetal Alchemist and Ghost in the Shell, or something? I find it inconceivable that anyone would even suspect that the Bleach anime might get edited.

Dude, didn't you read the last thread of yours that I locked? You have to be a little more detailed than this. Use some comparisons of how Viz has "murdered" other anime. Give examples of what you think is "leaving its guts hanging out from all the editing."

I know you're new and all, but just read some of the other posts to get a feel for what is meant by "intelligent discussion."

You have until the end of today to edit and fix your opener, or I'm locking this thread for your inability to comply with forum policy. And I'd hate to do that because I'd be destroying everyone else's efforts up to the point of when I might lock it Sad.

I don't see any reason to be concerned about Viz's handling of Bleach. Aside from potentially long waits between releases. The DVDs will be uncut with subtitles, as pretty much all of their releases are (other than the ones they distribut for 4kids).

The TV version will have very few, if any, edits. Naruto is on Toonami and isn't edited very badly. Bleach will be on Adult Swim which edits only the most extreme stuff or certain swear words.

It's hard to speculate on the dub, since Viz's dubs tend to vary. I felt that Naruto's dub was acceptable, so I'm not expecting a terrible dub of Bleach.

So I really don't see anything to get worked up about.

Hmm, this is true, FMA was straight from dvd to tv with zero edits and GitS I can't comment on but there was blood in that too. These examples give me faith, Ameri-Bleach should be good!
