Ok, so when I was looking at the episode titles, I noticed ANN listed that they were out of order, like episode 3 was chronologically episode 7, like that. So...do you think I should watch the series in chronological order or watch them by the episode number order?

I'd recommend watching them in the order they aired unless you absolutely can't handle the episode shuffling. That was the order it was intended to be watched it and it can be fun to suddenly realize you completely missed some change when you later see an earlier episode.

Ok, I was aiming for watching it in the intended order, I just wanted to see what some other people thought first.

Of course you should watch it in the order they aired. I mean, that's a big part of the whole show. I've only seen the first 4 episodes, and episode 4 really throws something at you that you have no idea of because it is farther along into the series than you actually are.
It may sound weird, sure chronologically they're wrong but in all other ways the episodes are in correct order.

Agree with watching them in the airing order, since the episode shuffling was done both to preserve the eccentric personality of Haruhi (ultra-director) and to remain faithful to the novels, which have a lot of chronological shuffling as well.

I first watched them in the aired order and it works exceptionaly well. At the moment I am watchig them again in chronological order but because the ending episode occurs at episode 6 it has lost plenty of impact. Definitly watch it in aired order first.

The intended order is the way to go. It helps establish the whole aura of forced confusion that is the lifeblood of the show. Also, yeah, there's the thing where the last episode (chronologically episode 6) would lose a LOT of its power.
