Umm the DVD is a dub only from what I remeber. That is the only release of the series I know of thus far. Maybe the new UMD has sub on it but I hardly doubt that.
I think that this movie does have Japanese languages I am not sure if it ever been released in the US. But then again there is a chance that I am dead wrong.......

The movie did indeed have a combination of English and Japanese for its original release in Japan. In fact, most of the dialogue was in English. I can't confirm whether the American release featured any of the Japanese dialogue re-dubbed into English, but I imagine that it wasn't.

Yes is was made originally with american and japanese voices (mostly american). This is because the story takes place in the US and they decided to have the characters speak primarily in the language of their origin. And no the dialogue was not redubbed in the american release especially considering how they hired normal american talent to voice the characters to begin with. In both the US and the JP releases the voices are the same and the subtitles are the only difference.

Well, just to be correct it didn't take place in America, though parts of it did take place on American soil. It took place on an american military base in Japan, in the '60s I think? I forget exactly when

During Vietnam, it takes place on a US base. It would be a leapfrog base to Vietnam during the war.

When I watched it, there weren't any choices on which language to watch it in, just the choice of subtitles. I would imagine when they released in theaters in Japan, they had Japanese subtitles for the English dialogue that was spoken. When I watched it and the first thing you hear is English, I thought it was an English dub, but then I heard the Japanese, so I thought maybe.....

So we have the English Dub because we get subtitles during the Japanese dialogue while the Japanese version more than likely got subs during the English dialogue.
I have to say I really loved this English/Japanese audio because it just gave more of a sense of realisim.
I feel weird watching shows that take place in Japan or other countries, and all you hear is English dialogue... I bet you it was the same thing in Fast And Furious Tokyo Drift.
