Michiko and Hatchin! Finally! Of course $65 each for 2 sets is a little rich for my blood, so I'll have to wait for a Right Stuf or Amazon sale or something. But still! Really excited I'll get to watch it again soon.
Also, Sherlock Bones is awesome. Cute puppy + gruesome murders = VERY entertaining! I really hope it does well here. And I'd already pre-ordered Tropic of the Sea, so I'm excited to get to read that. This is a good week.

Why is Michiko and Hatchin getting a blu ray release and Future Diary getting dvd only?
Are they F***king mental. Thats like giving Michael Schumacher a box with 4 wheels on it, and giving a five year old an F1 car and telling them to race.
With all due respect to those who like M and H, its a really poor mash up of something like FLCL and El Cazador; in fact I would recommend just watching those two shows and skipping this one. And yes I had the misfortune to watch it.
I don't know why people are always so quick to defend funi and jump on sentai's backside, when funi pulls crap like this. It give clearly more popular shows dvd only releases. Index, Railgun, Shanga ra la (yea it was crap but you cant put Range Murata's art on dvd only, the man is an artistic god), Diary, etc. And then 2 years later its like psych, now you gotta buy the blu rays again. And that is in the event we even get the show. Sora no Oto 2 really pissed me off, I bought blu ray first season, then they are like season 2 dvd only, and then 2 years later, heres season 2 on blu ray. WTF. Don't sit there and tell me you had no idea this was your plan all along. Its a pretty God dam sleeazy move to pull this kind of crap.
Sad thing is I just bought Dxd from them. Am going to buy LE Fam, Fujiko, and Zombie of the dead 2 when it comes out. Well I can still be pissed at them, and buy their products too.

A Future Diary Blu-Ray box set is being released in Japan in 2 months. that's probably why it's DVD only

Michiko and Hatchin for me, please!! I'm sooo happy it's been released here at last. Michiko is so dreamy and glamorous. Sigh!

I'm excited for Michiko e Hatchin too! My copy from RightStuf cam on Saturday. I've been excited about it since I first heard about it and even more so since I saw, and really liked, Lupin III ~The Woman Called Fujiko Mine~.
I'm also really eager to get my copy of Tropic of the Sea, because, well, it's a manga by freaking Satoshi Kon! I've glanced at a few opinions and it seems to be living up to the expectations set by his legacy.
A new volume of Ōoku: The Inner Chambers is pretty sweet too.
Damn, this is an uncommonly awesome week for new releases.

It's possible that this is a restriction imposed by the Japanese licensor.

@ZepysGirl
$65 for a complete 26 episode series, brand new on Blu Ray, is TOO expensive for you? You must be a younger fan. I guess I'm considered an old-timer at 27 years old, but Anime has never been so affordable. Go back, even 5 years and complete 26 episode series in boxsets were easily $125+ for DVD. This is half price on HD Blu Ray. It's so cheap!!!
How much cheaper do you want it to be? $19.99 for each set? They would be literally giving it away at that price. On amazon, the first set for the limited edition is only $30. For that insanely low price, I feel like they're losing money.
When I first got into anime (many years ago) I bought each Bandai Visual release of Cowboy Bebop on VHS, subtitled and they were $30 each. So yea....there you go.

I don't know how long you have been an Anime fan/consumer, but this is because of the Japanese licensor. Kadokawa is known for restricting Blu Ray releases. Look at Deadman Wonderland. It will probably never get an R1 Blu Ray release. So please do not point fingers and start complaining/whining about Funi/Sentai not releasing a Blu Ray. It's not up to them.
@Surrender Artist
Cannot agree more! I recently finished all of Fujiko Mine and while the second half of the show wasn't as good as the first, a very enjoyable series and I only hope they create more like that.

It's not $65 SRP for 26 episodes, it's $130 for 22 episodes. Although it can be had for $78 on sale.

If by "younger" you mean 23, then yes.
There are two $65 sets. Part 1 and Part 2. So the entire series is $130 at retail price. I know that Amazon's got one of the sets for $30, but the other half is $40 at least, meaning I'd have to spend at least $70 to get a 22 episode series. Even though I really love Michiko to Hatchin, I'm not willing to pay those prices. If other people want to pay that, fine-- it's a great series. It's just too expensive for me at the moment, I'll wait for a better sale.
