If I was a Tetsuwan Atom fan I'd be all over this how cool. Any Japanese BD with English on it is a plus in my book.

As someone who's been dieing for any Astro Boy show to come out on Blu-ray for 5 years (and this was announced one week after I gave in and bought the DVDs, no less!), all I can say is that the lack of subtitles is a huge disappointment. It's not like they don't exist, and Manga Entertainment, the US distributor, even once told me they don't own the rights to those subs anymore, so I can presumably guess they rolled back into Tezuka Productions' hands.

I would never watch something in a different dub than its original language, but even if I did, this particular dub is pretty terrible.

Now, what is a fan to do? Import them anyway, rip the content, apply subs, and burn them onto BD-Rs? Or would that be a huge waste of time and money, since Anime Sols could make a copy of this release but with subtitles. (Let us remember that Tezuka Productions is one of Anime Sols's four partner companies)

I would like to hear more support from Astro Boy and Tezuka fans on this: of course it's too late to change this Japanese release, but we should all collectively make a request to Anime Sols to crowd fund a subtitled release, or at least announce something on the subject, because this Japanese release is a limited edition after all.

Will this version contain the unedited episodes 1 and 2? With the dub?

Because I have been hearing nothing but conflicting reports about the existence of the unedited dub versions of episodes 1 and 2. Some say that the audio tracks exist and are firmly in the hands of Tezuka productions while others say that Tezuka productions had those versions destroyed and are only sticking with the edited versions instead.

I'm personally hoping that the unedited versions of episodes 1 and 2 will be on this set and get licensed in the near future. I love the Manga release on DVD but the mere fact that episodes 1 and 2 were spliced together was the set's biggest disappointment.
