A couple of weeks ago at ColossalCon in Cleveland, I watched the first three episodes of Jinki:Extend, which of course was recently licened by ADV for an R1 release. From what I saw, it didn't look that bad of a series - good action, nice animation, pretty decent voice acting, and the story was interesting enough for me to consider purchasing the DVD in the future. But some people said that after the first three episodes, the series goes downhill from there. One went to say that Jinki:Extend was basically a 26-episode series crammed into a 13-episode series, which makes me wonder if I should go ahead and purchase the DVD when ADV releases it sometime down the road. Or should I move Jinki:Extend to my "Will Not Finish" section on my ANN account and forget that I ever laid eyes on it?
Thanks for the advise. ![]() |

I'd avoid it - your time could be better spent elsewhere. It struck me as a series which they tried to make in the mould of Eva and RahXephon - angsty teens with parental issues, fighting robots, mysticism thrown in, etc. Except that in this case they had a lot less money and a lot less creativity. All in all, below average in every respect - except for the ending song, Mirai to yuu na no kotae, which I rather liked. But that's it.
