According to the latest SoundScan ratings, Dir en grey's "Withering to Death" moved about 2,000 copies this past week. That put them ahead of some more established and/or hyped metal bands like Misery Index and The Autumn Offering.

So is this a good omen of things to come for other Japanese rock bands, or is this just a flash in the pan?

I bought the last and probably first copy at Tower Records the day it came out. I haven't found it anywhere since.
