Thank you Tokyopop!
I seriously was about to find Japanese copies of the 12 Kingdoms novels and translate them myself.
Now I won't have to go through all that trouble.

I know people who have worked on translating them and they share your sentiment.
...and my birthday is in March.

It's great that they're finally being officially translated (YES FINALLY 12K!!!) but 2007 seems to be a long ways away.

there are actually some fan translations of a couple of novels in the series that have been floating around the internet for quite some time...
but I guess those are "illegal" now ...

But aren't fan translations of anything without the author's consent always illegal?[/quote]

I'm really excited about this. I've been waiting for something like this to happen ever since the anime ended so abruptly. I was disappointed at not being able to see the other stories.
2007 does seem far away, but then again, it is practically the middle of 2006.

This is great. Hopefully, they will be good translations. How many Twelve Kingdom novels are there in Japanese?

This is terrific news, been waiting and hoping they would be brought over since I watched volume 1 when it was released.

I want to be happy.
I really, really want to be happy.
But it's Tokyopop. And the last experience I had with Tokyopop's novel translations was Gundam SEED, which was ABYSMAL.
So I want to be happy. But I can't be, no matter how hard I try.

If you're worried, check out the first Pop Fiction books when they come out--Kino no Tabi and Scrapped Princess--for an idea of what to expect. The Pop Fiction books are getting different treatments from the "Manga Novels."

I'll probably read a chapter or two in the book store before I buy. I'm definitely interested.
Now if only someone would do the Galactic Heroes novels...

Yay I'm so glad they are publishing the Twelve Kingdom Novels. I've read the fan translations out there... I just hope they don't stop halfway through their translation because of this. There doesnt seem to be too many chapters to go on two of them....
