Is Shinji Ikari from neon genesis evangelion GAY ???

I don't know why or how that came up, but I think no. I would say he was infatuated with Asuka.

I think he's referring to the episode with Kaoru. Anyway I just saw it as Shinji's way of not knowing how to react to kindness from a male. But also I think in a way Kaoru was nurturing, which is something Shinji never really experienced. But as fighterholic pointed out, End of Eva pretty much cements Shinji's sexual orientation.

I thought Kauru spoiler[the "last" angel right?], was gay and Shinji wasn't so he didn't know how to react... he looked like he was like "ooookkkaaayyy, not gay here so back off."

Well, you would think so, but watch the first few minutes of End of Evangelion, and you'll see that he's not.

Yeah, um, next time maybe you should leave a better reply than leet speak or whatever that is. Oh, and Shinji is NOT gay. He's just a wuss... unless you look at doujins. Damn, he really ****ed Misato good in that one I saw last night.

I don't think Shinji is gay. But I do think that he was in love with Kaoru (Kaworu, Kauru, whatever. Why does he have so many names?
 ). He doesn't like men in general; Kaoru is just special. I think it also has something to do with how "nurturing," like someone in another post said, he is. I think Shinji looked up to him as the mother-like figure that he never really had. Of course, in the manga Shinji spoiler[hates his guts. I think Kaoru was just coming onto him too strong in the manga though, and he got freaked out. Shinji is also a lot more independent in the manga, and doesn’t need Kaoru’s fostering.] Keep in mind these opinions are coming from a Boys Love fan (not fangirl, though).
