Okay, so I'm just starting to realize how boring and mainstream my manga genres are. So I need some suggestions for manga that I could look into. First of all, I apologize if there's already a thread for this, if there is I would love a link to it because I haven't seen it.
Alright, so what I have right now is Rurouni Kenshin, Deathnote, Black Cat, Bleach, Berserk, a subscription to Shojo Beat (so all the stuff in that), and a subscription to Shonen Jump (ditto^). I also have random volumes of Fushigi Yugi: Genbu Keiden, Inuyasha, and Tuxedo Gin.
I like almost any genre, but I'm starting to tire of typical Shonen Jump manga. Oh yeah, and I'm 15 and a girl (though I don't only like Shojo) if that helps.
I really dislike manga that's just about buff guys and girls who just sit there and look pretty. Also, I'm fine with yaoi and shonen-ai stuff...haha I actually like it, I just don't really own any.
So please, I'd love any suggestions of good manga to try, or at least a new genre to try out!
Thanks so much, I'm sorry again if there's already a thread similar to this...any help is appreciated!

If you've liked Genbu Kaiden, perhaps picking up the missing volume(s) (not sure how random it can be with only 3 volumes currently released) and checking out other Yuu Watase titles, especially Ceres: Celestial Legend because it is quite a bit darker than your average shoujo.
Also, if you like NANA in SB, I'd recommend Paradise Kiss, also by Ai Yazawa, which I'm currently collecting and enjoying immensely.

I don't think everyone is really getting what she's looking for: something that isn't exactly like every other manga she reads. While they certianly don't get much attention from most manga fans, there are tons of manga just outside of the mainstream available in English. The best introduction to these is probobly Sexy Voice and Robo. While the plot synopsis sounds like a Japanese Nancy Drew, it's really something special. Within the structure of an episodic mystery manga, the manga-ka (the great Iou Kuroda) manages to create such a vibrant world that's populated by facinating characters (not to mention one of the best female leads I've seen). The art is a bit diffrent from what people assoicate, but that makes it all the more beautiful. Check out the ANN review for a more detailed description.
Love Roma is a good bet if you want a very quirky comedy with some suprisingly touching romance. Nodame Cantable is one of the most popular shojo titles in Japan, yet it remains in the shadow of other titles in the states, which is a real shame. Most of the time it's silly, but it has strong characters that really grow on you.

I second Sexy Voice and Robo. It is definitely different than most manga, at least the ones I am reading. When I started this one I was, meh, but by the end I was totally interested in the what was gonna happen to the Lead. Being short as it is, it sure brings a lot of your emtions to the table, a sign I think of the skill of Iou Kuroda. While I don't think it is for everyone, as I certainly had my doubts at first. But it is only one book, so there really isn't a reason not to try it out, my guess is you be glad you did.

I suggest I"s. I didn't see a title of this genre(drama and romance). And if you do have something such as this, then forgive me. In either case though, this is an extremely well done work of this genre. Good thing too that it is being released at the moment. Unlike love hina, this one is all serious, and while some of the conflicts may seem slighyl farfetch, the majority of the manga is extremely emotional and I think you would enjoy it.
If you end up liking that one, maybe check out Suzuka.

Again, both those titles are EXACTLY the same as what she currently reads.

Wow thanks everyone! I didn't expect to be getting so many ideas! I think I've heard of a few of them, but I haven't read any so I'm excited to check it all out! So yeah this doesn't mean I'm not still open to ideas...if you have one post it!
But yay! Thanks so much! I luckily have a really good store where i think I can find all of this stuff, now that I know some things to look for. Arigato!!

I know what I suggested was certainly similar, but I did at least try to recommend things that aren't the average shoujo.
