I recently saw a trailer for the movie. Anyone can confirm if this is true?

It was a joke. As much as I'd absolutely love it, there are no plans for a Mai HiME movie.

Yes, it's true. Assuming you're talking about the trailer which features Arika (the main character of Mai Otome) as the villain (Which is too funny, by the way), then it was an admitted joke that was put on the Japanese release of the Mai-HiME DVDs. The studio actually produced the trailer, but they've said that it was just for fun and no such movie is being planned.

I just re-watched Mai Hime and in the last episode you can clearly see Arika behind Natsuki near the end. So with this is there any chance now that they might make a movie of it?

No. Just because you noticed something now that you missed before does not make a joke trailer any less of a joke.

That was just a hint towards the new series (Mai Otome). It has nothing to do with the fake movie. For better or for worse, the movie trailer is a joke.

Yes, Arika's addition in the last episode was just a "Hey, look who it is! Stay tuned for Mai Otome!" kind of thing. If you watch carefully towards the beginning of the series, Nina sits next to Mai in class, too. (Although her eyes are a differant color).

Erstin and Irina (and possibly some other characters) pop up in Mai HiME as well.

Really? I've watched through Mai HiME three times, and I don't remember ever seeing Ers-chan or Irina pop up. Where, exactly? I'd like to be able to go and find them! Aside from them, the only other 'important supporting characters' that I don't recall seeing in HiME at all were Tomoe and Miss Maria.. any idea if they pop up at all?
