Initially, the "vintage" info was meant to be exactly as it sounds: when the anime was made. But for a while now, it has been systematically abused to enter the release date of each and every single volume. Per-volume dates were only supposed to be used for OAV series but it ended up being used for everything else too, making pages almost unreadable for long series.

But it's not like this type of info is without worth, so I've created a new type of information for Releases and changed about 11000 vintages into releases. I've also removed the ability to add "Volumes" for manga since that was pretty much redundant; current volume lists are still visible but from now on volume names should be added as part of the release.

Comments are welcome.

I second and applaud this new feature. I myself am very much guilty as charged for submitting tons of per-volume release info (manga in particular) under vintage. Razz Embarassed

Most anime and manga did not have titles per volume when they were released in Japan. When I first encountered titles of individual volumes of US licensed anime/manga releases I was very confused: why add something wasn't there in the original release? While I don't know much about American comic book releases, live-action TV shows (e.g. Friends, Sex and the City, Star Trek) and mini-series (e.g. Band of Brothers) don't have titles per volume of DVD, for episodes included in one DVD together were only because of their sequential nature and not because they formed a sub-plot in each and every disc.

I also applaud this decision. Coming clean, I have also abused the Vintage category for many anime. I am glad that another category has been added to help clean up the pages.
